This was a really well done fic, Kieran and Oscar were in character. Only Kieran would see retirement as death. Or him changing his title because it was not good enough. Though does leave Oscar speechless for a good reason. Thanks for the laughs.

I don't really know what Fire Emblem is or who any of these people are but I actually like this short story and think it's quite funny. I'm not saying that in a patronising way or just because you said my stuff was good but I genuinely like your style, its kinda fun and quirky in an innocent sort of way. :P

Hmm, lessee, so they made it past the fifty mark then. xD I think Marcus has them beat for oldest knight, but that's pretty good. Never really thought about Kieran retiring, though... Always seemed to me that he would have gotten himself killed in battle/training/something including sharp, pointy objects at some point, but your story is such an entertaining alternative. xD

But on the fourth line, 20 should be written out.

Go figure that those two would call it reassignment rather than retirement. xD Oscar/ Kieran is definitely my favorite friendship pairing in the Fire Emblem series and this story is so in character that I'm likely going to think of it every time I finish Radiant Dawn. xD Speaking of which, considering you wrote this before playing RD, the mentions of mercenary work on the side and Oscar being a knight again were eerie accurate, ha ha!

You really don't see enough of Kieran in fandom, and this was a spot-on characterization :D Full of all his...eccentricities~! The Kieran and Oscar dynamic was great too~ Again, fandom desperately needs more of this.

That was certainly very much classic Kieran... but I think that that's a little concerning, since this story takes place so long after the games' timeline. That's really a tough part about writing fics that take place many years after a game ends; if you really want to get into it, you have to consider how the characters would have changd. Would a 40-something year-old Kieran talk the same way that the 20-something year-old did?

That was my first characterization thought. I think that Kieran would definitely freak out at the prospect of having to retire as you showed him, but it's the connection with Oscar that I would assume would have changed quite a bit over twenty years.

Those thoughts aside, this was certainly an enjoyable read. I do love the bond between Oscar and Kieran, so that was great to see. This was quite an original idea for a story, too. Good job!

Yes! I love the dynamic. In my opinion, Kieran is right on, speech, mannerisms, everything. I also liked how you ran on each of Kieran's... traits, shall I say. His lack of common sense or his somewhat preposterous fidelity to Crimea or his insistence on making everything a challenge, those were all played on well. Oscar is an excellent bonus (as he is probably my favourite FE character) and acts as a good companion to him.

The flow was good and it was easy to follow, which made reading this quite enjoyable. I hope you churn out more along this line; we could use more Kieran. Everyone could.
