Hahvha chapter 1 . 7/5/2019
Another great one. Closure is the word. Thank you.
hushedgreylily chapter 1 . 8/11/2017
When you read this again (because you like torturing yourself) and realise the Mark that died young in this fic outlived Mark on the show by 8 years... :'(
thecarouselneverstopsturning chapter 1 . 4/13/2017
Addison has a kid with Pete? Yuck. I can not enjoy this because of that. Sorry.

KBRC chapter 1 . 8/9/2012
Oh My god. Too sad. I hope they don't end that way, ripped apart, but still in love. Ack.
ClaudyStream chapter 1 . 4/25/2011
I just realised I haven't reviewed this fic of yours yet! I read it way back in the days when I was still a lurker on FF without an account. P

This is one of the most powerful fics I've read.

And I couldn't help but just read it again - simply beautiful.

I remember initially mistaking your "Chief" for Richard and thinking "but that's a bit weird..." and then reading further to discover that it was no other than Mark. Nice use of contrast between the two letters. And Mark's smirk-y tone on paper? That was pulled off so, so brilliantly. I can picture the know-it-all and asshole-y but still adorable expression (with a hint of nostalgia thrown in too) on his face as he wrote the letter and it both warms and breaks my heart. The idea of revealing the truth about the bet to Addie only after Mark had died? You are one nasty little thing. For it is indeed quite rare for me to even tear up reading most fics but I was bawling my eyes out by the end of yours. What could've been, should've been, would've been - but now all lost - you sure know how to tantalise your readers with the possibilities! And thank you for the bittersweet last line - personally I think there's nothing more powerful than making your audience both cry and laugh at the same time. Humans are strange creatures who sometimes *enjoy* being on an emotional roller coaster as a story is being told. You sure know how to play with your readers' minds ;)

Anyway *cough* that was one long and long overdue review P But I had to get it off my chest, and thank you a million for one of the most memorable reading experiences - Maddison or not - here on FF )
McShip chapter 1 . 3/14/2010
I am so glad I stumbled upon this. The letter is perfect and the last line was funny and tear jerking at the same time.

'"Goodbye Mark," she said. She forced herself to smile. "I'm fantasizing about shower sex right now!" She squeezed her eyes shut, willing herself not to cry. "I think I loved you too," she whispered.'

(cries) And I thought it was Richard until I read the word "manwhore."
McHobbit chapter 1 . 1/2/2010
*swallows* I honestly thought it was Richard until the "she knew perfectly well who it was" line. Then I was like "Please, please, don't be Mark". But it was Mark, and it always make me cry *sniffles*
distantmuse chapter 1 . 2/24/2009
I love this story so much. It is very sad, and it definitely made me tear up, but you wrote from Mark's point of view so perfectly, and you kept his identity a secret at first very well. Great.
citsacras chapter 1 . 12/26/2008
I thought it was Richard:)I'm not the biggest Maddison fan but I loved your story. Great job!
Satan-wears-prada chapter 1 . 7/27/2008

hushedgreylily chapter 1 . 4/28/2008
AW

OMG, I read the first letter and I was all like, that's really sad, Richard Webber died, and then I read the second bloody letter and I was like OMG MARK!

Beautifully written. I love it.

Karevsanatomy chapter 1 . 4/11/2008
I really enjoyed reading this. Yes, it was sad. Yes, it made me cry. That isn't always a bad thing though. Personally, I think it is one of the highest compliments a writer can get, knowing their work moved someone.
Jody chapter 1 . 3/14/2008
Great story

Aww Addie refering to Mark as her best line was perfect.
