SomeKindOfFan chapter 15 . 11/9/2014 I woud prefer this ending: ...the new Lady Vetinari gains great popularity in the city and provides an inexhaustible source of human interest stories for the Ankh-Morpork Times. This is a useful smokescreen for Vetinari, who finds as much comfort in Angelina's company as he had expected. The marriage is highly successful, though childless, and Vetinari remains in office until the age of seventy-six, when he and his wife are killed in a freak explosion at the Opera House. Although I don't mind if Susan becomes Patrician. |
SomeKindOfFan chapter 5 . 11/6/2014 Ch:5 Pride and Prejudice! :-D |
SomeKindOfFan chapter 3 . 11/6/2014 Love your story! |
Ikurus chapter 15 . 3/10/2013 It was very Pratchett for the first four quarters but the reconnect between them was a bit too P&P for my preference. Probably because I just can't imagine Vetinari acting quite like that, but then again I can't say how else he should act either. Anyways, I like. Thank you for writing and sharing this. Heteroclite chapter 15 . 8/28/2012 Great story! I love Vetinari's character but so often it fall's flat outside of Pratchett's masterful hands :). Adore Angelina and am looking forward to devouring the sequel. K. Plus, as an Austen fan I loved picking out all of her lines! A little Brandon and a lot of Darcy! |
prolific.hack chapter 15 . 5/4/2012 I praise you. Writing a Discworld fic that preserves unique 'atmosphere' of sir Pratchett's stories is difficult task. You managed it perfectly. There is humor, there is Vetinari and all the craziness of Ankh-Morpork - what more could a fan ask for? Well-balanced OC seems to be too much, but you give your readers even this. And a plot that is both amusing and intriguing. Well done. (No need to mention, I added your story to Favorites, because that's quite obvious fact. Right?) |
Assarishita chapter 15 . 11/30/2011 I loved it! Very well written, it really does remind me of a Jane Austen novel, which seems strangely appropriate for lord Vetenari's character. Well done! |
DarkPatu chapter 2 . 10/31/2011 I had to back track a bit when I opened up 'Return of the ?' But i'm glad I did! Your OC is very evenly built and highly likable, and i'm looking forward to finishing this and reading your sequels! Great Pterry work, I love it. |
Zeara.g chapter 15 . 6/15/2011 I really liked this story and the style which it was written in worked surprisingly well. One of the reasons I enjoyed it so much is because when I started browsing through fanfiction it was not what I was looking for at all but it captured my interest and I couldn't stop reading untill I'd finished. The ending was perfect for the mood of the story. Congradulations on a wonderful fic. |
jenjen chapter 15 . 5/14/2011 i have only recently gotten into discworld and was ount hunting for good fics on Vetinari, who is my favorite character in the series. I only have to say that I absolutely love love loved your fic! It was very entertaining and I was grinning and squeeing from the beginning until the final moments. Of course it helped that I am a huge Jane Austen fan and am a sucker for these kinds of stories, but I will tell you that you that the story was definitely well-written. Your female OC was extremely likeable, congrats! |
Locklace chapter 6 . 10/18/2010 Oh, yes, I did mean to mention this - I *love* all the little continuity nods. It's the little touches... |
Locklace chapter 5 . 10/18/2010 I'm not a big fan of Vetinari romances (two reasons : first because they're normally wildly out of character, and secondly because I love Vetinari/Margolotta) but this does seem very well done, and it's one of the most true-to-character I've seen, although it's hard to judge seeing as we almost never get Vetinari's POV in the books. Some of the thoughts don't sound much like him, but maybe they're just different to my idea of him as a character; they seem reasonably consistent with the POV we see in the books. I love the concept of the environmental officer, especially as it's following a trend we've seen in the books (investigative journalism, the internet, stamps, a modern financial system...environmentalism? Why not?) and I think Angelina seems like a fairly well-done character. Definitely something I will finish with interest. |
Witch fang chapter 15 . 8/23/2010 That was so absolutely Darcy, and I thnak you! I think I'm going to have it printed and bound so I can read it when ever I want. Thank you again! this was absolutely, and I know I have previously stated this fact, but let me reitterate, DARCY! |
Witch fang chapter 4 . 8/23/2010 this is so excelent! Thank you! |
dragon chapter 2 . 1/12/2010 L-space! Alright, I just had to write that. I love the L-space :) I really had to laugh at "Good grief, and he thinks that is going to protect her?" So Henry is an assassin? He is obviously not grown up in Ankh-Morpork. By the way: I like your Drumknot. Lina |
