Wow! I don't know what I loved more about this fic, being an "early" (2002!) CloTi Lifestream story that ended happily, or having that unique and untainted look at these characters before the uhh Compilation project (including Advent Children) did its own thing. The sleeping under the stars quip in the previous chapter made me laugh because I thought for sure it was a clever under the Highwind reference (yep yep, in the canon High Affection version, they make love under the stars the night before the final battle).

And I certainly didn't expect to see a fic where Tifa physically told Cloud what's what but umm, at least he took it in stride and it worked for the purposes of your story: the poor girl felt neglected emotionally for so long at that point. (Which honestly brilliantly fits depending on the Party choices you make in-game, ignoring the whole Affection mechanics.)

Tifa being the team cook was great and I swear that Advent Children or On the Way to a Smile novel implied such somewhere, but I definitely agree with that thought and hopefully Remake will show us something along those lines. The emotional outpouring of this story overall was pretty perfect and such a unique take on the Lifestream sequence. Cloud, warmly accepting the truth afterwards, wanting to love Tifa, while Tifa in something of a role reversal: scared to death of loving him meanwhile lashing out and emotionally shutting down...Ahh, it was perfect! (On another aside, my stubborn butt thinks a Zerith Lifestream reunion can easily work in the context of VII, no Compilation needed. Aerith always loved Zack and was clearly in denial about his death, but that's another topic.)

Anyway. As an original fan from 1997 and with Midgar arc Remake on the horizon in April, this made me incredibly warm and fuzzy to read. Thanks so much for this CloTi fic, if you happen to see this review!

that...was one of the greatest stories i have ever read. it was, perfect, i say. it made me so happy and it was just so much like i thought of cloud and tifa's relationship. i need stories like this one to assure me that its should really be cloud and tifa nad NOT cloud and aeris.
