Wow. Not sure how I missed this story. But it is so great and I love how it starts from the end of "The Economist". Jack's expression when he sees that Kate wasn't with Sayid was crushing.

Nice job. I really, really liked it.

That was perfect. I think you captured that scene when she doesn't come back very well. Jack was just so defeated but there was a hint of expectation too. Like it broke his heart but he wasn't surprised which made that scene even more sad to me. Great job! I wish this was how that had ended.

What I loved, in order:

"her loose hair swinging in tandem with her steps. He frowned at all the reasons that would compel her to stay and simultaneously justified each one for her." And then the reasons you gave. It's such a freakin' masculine train of thought, and you wrote it perfectly. That was something I loved about this in general-there's a lot of male perspective, and it all seems so...yes, if that makes sense. It all seems real. Like the bit where you have him thinking a little about Kate, but then tells Juliet something different - GUH, that was real.

The dominos thing made me melt a little.

And this: "‘Let it go, Jack,’ as his father told him once." Jack thinking about that there just NAILED it for me. While we know this didn't happen in the series, I love that it could have - that these two characters in the given situation would act like this. The kiss might have been a stretch for those DAMN STUBBORN chars, espectially post-Jacket action, but that's why we have fic in the first place.

I have been waiting for someone to write a fic about Kate's return to Jack and the beach, and I couldn't have found a more satisfying and perfectly written story as the one you've written. I love it.

I love how she sneaks up on him and he's not expecting her. How he was thinking of her at that same moment. I love that she tells him that he's the reason why she came back and that she knew what that meant for her in the future, when they get off the island. Your writing captured their characters perfectly. Oh and that ending was beautiful, about the future being uncertain, but them being together at that moment was.

Lovely description: "Still, disbelief suspended over him in a murky haze as he looked over the sloping hill, almost anticipating her lithe figure to stride into view, her loose hair swinging in tandem with her steps." And the next few lines are a nice take on Jack trying to jsutify why Kate would stay 'with Sawyer.'

The "sinking scene" is one of my favorite moments, and I love the callback here. Hopefully, we'll get a callback on the show as well.

“I don’t love Juliet,” he asserted. Bravo on Jack's bluntness. Since he has nothing to hide with her anymore, it's a nice callback to 'because I love you.'

“Kate, it’s going to be ok...I'll do anything to help you, and everything to keep you safe.” His eyes beseeching her restore her faith. His belief and faith in her is awe-inspiring , and such a contrast to a certain someone else. And then her response:

"What you’ve done… after all of my lies, after what I did to you. Trusting me after I’d given you so many reasons not to,” she said gravely, “You took an unselfish leap of faith in me, and that’s something nobody has ever done…you believed in me.”

What I wouldn't do for that to happen on the show. Beautiful.

And your description of the kiss is amazing. Intoxicating.
