Squibghost chapter 10 . 1/4/2017
Dear Human,

I have just finished reading the prologue and first Nine chapters of DD&TKOW. I started reading this story years ago when you published the first bits of it. I remember being thrilled by the crazy, "Kill the Witches, Kill them, Kill them all!" scripture references. I have an interest in Theology and also wondered how the heck that was going to play out.

I remember having read some of your other tales years ago and remember you being one of my favorite FanFiction authors. I love the questions you raise about the theory behind magic. You are the only Theoretical Magiphysicist I know of ;~). It is a perfectly reasonable branch of magical studies and one that is a particularly appropriate for a muggle born to raise. We, after all, are the ones who are the intellectual descendants of Francis Bacon and Isaac Newton. I would like very much to see Rose or Asp or even Hermione get a course in Magiphysics introduced at Hogwarts. Who would teach it?

Generally speaking, I really like Hogwarts letter stories. Rereading Daphne's Hogwarts letter experience made all the hair on my arms stand up, literally - it's such a dramatic moment. You handled it beautifully. You are also handling all of the characters in this story magnificently. The relationships are so fraught and it is so difficult getting these characters to behave in a manner that is both believable character wise and in the context of their personal and interpersonal histories and, at the same time, compelling. You have accomplished this very convincingly. Kudos.

So, it's only been seven years, whadda ya say to the proposition that you finish this story? It really deserves to be completed. AND, I want to read the rest of it.

You have a talent for bringing the Wizarding world convincingly to life. You have something significant to contribute to the extra-canonical canon. Oh, and congratulations on being one of the first to convincingly place Albus Severus Potter in Slytherin, which is, as I am sure you know, since the publication of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, not only canon but gospel.

This story is a better story than Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I love JKR but a Script ain't a book. Its not even much of a story by JKR standards, because you can't get lost in it.

Your stories, especially this one, do bring that world to life in continually new and interesting ways. When I read your stories I am once again at Hogwarts, with my friends, eating in the great hall, talking to lonely ghosts and fighting for the light. It's enough to make an old man happy.

Please write more if you are able.

Thanks,

Steve, AKA squibghost

I read this whole story in an afternoon and an evening. I would like to see more - yes!

I liked the story of Dudley having Muggleborn children. I also like that society had improved

Your story suggests that the Knights- of Walpurgis originally had a different objective and that the Dark Lord took it over. I may have had by-laws constructed to prevent it from becoming a terrorist organization. The Dark Lord took it over and when the by-laws got in the way the way he dissolved it and created the Death Eaters.

During this read through, it occurred to me that your Draco and Astoria are very canon compliant with what JKR wrote about them on Pottermore. Well done, you! As you wrote this years before Pottermore debuted, it really shows how carefully you read the books and caught all subtext.

Jkr wrote, "The events of Draco’s late teens forever changed his life. He had had the beliefs with which he had grown up challenged in the most frightening way: he had experienced terror and despair, seen his parents suffer for their allegiance, and had witnessed the crumbling of all that his family had believed in. People whom Draco had been raised, or else had learned, to hate, such as Dumbledore, had offered him help and kindness, and Harry Potter had given him his life. After the events of the second wizarding war, Lucius found his son as affectionate as ever, but refusing to follow the same old pure-blood line.

Draco married the younger sister of a fellow Slytherin. Astoria Greengrass, who had gone through a similar (though less violent and frightening) conversion from pure-blood ideals to a more tolerant life view, was felt by Narcissa and Lucius to be something of a disappointment as a daughter-in-law. They had had high hopes of a girl whose family featured on the ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’, but as Astoria refused to raise their grandson Scorpius in the belief that Muggles were scum, family gatherings were often fraught with tension."

I do so love this story. As a parent, the POV greatly appeals to me and makes everything feel so real. I am particularly nuts about the scene where Harry and Sophie discuss his biography. I like his response about how it all seems different to him now, as a parent, but that at the time, it just seemed natural to him; it was the only "normal" he knew. As much as I love the HP books, I find myself frequently horrified at how insanely cruel and dangerous his adolescent life was. My youngest is equally horrified by my remarks that I would never have allowed her to go to Hogwarts without close my scrutiny of the staff, administration and policies, as their poor performance in the books is less than impressive. Thank you for your hard work on this story! It inspires my imagination.

BlueCrownFics chapter 10 . 8/7/2013
I'm reviewing for the sake of reviewing. I've noticed that you haven't updated this story in over 3 years, but according to your profile, the story isn't abandoned. So, because of that, I decided to leave you a review.

I really enjoyed the concept. It really didn't occur to me that because magic is genetic, it honestly could pop in somewhere in Dudley's children. I don't know why that thought had slipped my mind, but when I was reading this story, it just made perfect sense to me. I really love how you made it work. I loved that Dudley was able to reform himself through the years. Yes, we did see some of that throughout the last two books, so it was really interesting to see how he fared out through the years. At least in your story.

I love what you did with Draco. Just love, love, love his reformation. I would never expect that from a person like him, but if anyone were to do it, it had to be Draco or someone like him.

I'm not sure how to feel about the Mitchell's. I'm torn between liking Judith and not. I don't think she's a bad person, but I feel like I can't really trust her much. She makes me feel uncomfortable at times. I don't know if that was the intent or if that was accidental, but the way she appears in the story makes me feel like I can't trust in her character. I might be biased. I was never a fan of people who believed heavily in their faith.

Anyway, it was a great read! I'm putting this story on alert just in case you happen to update.
Talomor chapter 10 . 6/1/2013
I love this! It's most likely been abandoned three years ago, but it truly is one of those rare gems of fanfiction that you have to read through in one go, once you finally discovered it among the rubble. I wish you'd return and finish it someday.
Love, Talomor
