How about dumbledore being able to see through a cloak that hides the wearer from even death itself? Nothing in the book indicates he can. (Although he may have an alarm in the room with the mirror, or tracking charm on it...assuming that would even stick.)

I will not even get into the horrible psychological flaws in people, save for this; Hermione and Ron HATED eachother for YEARS. The ONLY reason they were...friendly...was because Harry acted like a buffer and go-between. Remove Harry, and Hermione would be a loner. Never mind the fact that the would have been killed by the troll. And Ron would not like Neville any better than he does in the books, just because he don't have Harry. Finnigan would be more likely. And Neville couldn't badmouth a troll...he'd be too scare, but also too nice. At best he'd make a non-comittal sound to avoid disagreeing. It took him years of encouragement to get out of his shell.

Look... You have a wonderful imagination, and you have a brilliant IDEA for your story. You also know how to keep it exiting, even if your writing makes it come out a little rushed...but please, PLEASE work on your logic!

Why on earth would someone who desire power, and that appears to have few, if any, morals, send the stone back to it's owners? It makes no sense.

Even most normally moralistic people would have kept it. An an amoral person would guaranteed have kept it, because; What would he gain from giving it away?

I like the concept. Harry knowing more about magic would definitely make a difference, but he's still 11. Don't make him a little adult. I'm a bit disappointed he's in Slytherin, but I'm curious to see what happens.
