Waking up alone in a hospital is never a good thing, especially for a Winchester. Great little snippets from Dean's life.

What a beautiful (angsty) idea for a story. Love how you approach Dean's fear of abandonment; it's just so gritty and real (and painful). Ugh. Beautiful.

I've been going through all your stories and enjoying the heck out of them, but this one especially sticks in my mind. Not only does it have a great variety of different variations on the same theme, but the bit at the beginning, about Dean either borrowing strength or lending strength and without he's (sees himself as) nothing - that is so perfectly Dean, just beautiful characterization.

Great concept; I like how the scenes span years and changes in family/hunting partners. Good job showing vulnerability all around.

This was perfect! Dean's abandonment issues makes for wonderful angst. :) And the sweet ending was just icing on top! Thanks for the story!

I absolutely like the one where Sam think Dean was dead, and Dean had to search him and finally found him, and Sam was crying and hug him so hard.

But the last scene they're with each other which is so great. :)

The first time was so hard, with Dad not there - out fighting - and Sam not there - at Stanford. Wow, Dad is hard, doesn't really feel that he's there for Dean. It's sad, having Dean follow Sam around campus (Sam! He's here!) like that. *sniff*
The next time, when he realizes that he's got to go after Sam ... worried about his brother, even after waking up in the hospital. That's Winchester. *smile*
The thing that was messing with Dean's head (Sam's too, when they tried to go back in) - just didn't understand the bond between them. Love the fact Dean knew it wasn't Sam at college. Also loved the fact that Dean never wanted Sam to wake up alone. That was perfect.
The time that Dean died, I think, was the worst. The horror of the idea that Sam was alone, that he thought Dean was dead and gone ... and he didn't care about his life anymore. Cried at the idea that he didn't realize Dean was there, saving him. Now, unfortunately, Sam knows what it's like to wake up alone, and hates it as much as Dean.
and then the last perfect time, when Sam IS there, although Dean didn't realize it at first. but Sam is there. And it's perfect.

This is beautifully written. I could almost feel the aching loneliness Dean felt each time he woke up alone. I'm very happy that you chose to show that Sam misses Dean as much as Dean misses Sam when their apart, and how much they need each other. This is a wonderful story. Great work!

Wow. This one is a heart-breaker. I have always thought through this series that being alone is one of Dean's greatest fears, if not his greatest. He can go through a lot and still persevere as long as he has someone he is fighting for...namely, Sam. This is one of the reasons I always get somewhat upset in the episodes where Sam leaves Dean...for whatever reason and for however long. Still, I love how this story showed a steady progression of Dean being almost completely alone to having the steadfast presence of his brother, and how that changed his attitude...gave him hope. Very well done. Thanks for sharing.

This is beautifully written. I like how each section was a story that could stand alone but together, they built up to create a perfect reasoning for what Dean notices first when he wakes up and how he responds. It's perfect.

I don't know, that's just the fist thought that popped into my head when I finished reading this. You know, after the fog of 'Oh-My-God-this-is-absolutely-amazing-I-NEED-TISSUES!' swirling around in there cleared.

Anyhow, I hope you don't mind seeing a few more of my rambly reviews as I go through the rest of your stories, because damn... you're good at this writing thing.
