Checking out some of your older fics, and man, this one was epic! Great suspense casefic, and I adore Sam getting to be the strong caretaker once in a while despite being a wreck himself. And in the end, they will always be there for each other!

Oh wow - I absolutely love it when the boys have to work together to defeat the monster. Neither one is strong enough on his own. And the Gatekeeper references? Priceless!

I'm getting back in SPN (some S&H friends have dragged me back - and I'm so glad they did - lol) and just finished Season 1.
You pegged Dean perfectly when Sam made observation that Dean's biggest fear is being left alone. I saw that all too plainly watching the last two episodes of Season 1. Dean fighting to keep both Sam and his dad alive.
And when Sam said the Dean would come before revenge..before anything..again so very true. And I know Dean would think the same about Sam. They'll be there for each other...always holding onto each other.
Family...that's what it's all about...:-)!

oooohhhhh. I really loved this one! Really well done with the suspense and so true to the boys. I couldn't put this down and will fully admit I will read this again!

This line, along with realization, spread the widest and probably most goofy-looking grin of all times on my face. Like, it literally started with this tiny twitch and then grew 'til my cheeks hurt. Dean, the gatekeeper. Now, if that's not perfection, I don't know what is.

Dean the "gatekeeper", always there to protect Sam. And Sam being so concerned about Dean. I loved it and also the mystery what happened to Dean.

Good intrigue; I kept puzzling over who was the gatekeeper: the entity that held Dean, the imp they banished, another person or phenomenon. When the gatekeeper was revealed it was shockingly obvious! Silly me...

Great story - I'd love for this to be an episode. You write their relationship so well (as I knew you would).

Wow okay I loved this fic. I cannot tell you how much utter terror combining with familial comfort and love hits the head right on the nail when it comes to the fics and stories I tend to adore. This was wonderful. I loved Dean crashing in and Sam holding on to him and grounding himself in order to complete the purification. Also Dean as the gatekeeper was so sweet, especially considering how the majority of this fic was Sam taking care of Dean. I loved that flip but that Dean was still the gatekeeper. PS - was so happy you had Dean refer to ghostbusters. I was hoping it'd come up and your version of Dean just never fails me lol thank you so much for writing this gem!
