OMG what a lovely story...so much suspense! Trust me, the only critic I would give is that; it's bad that you have us readers to wait so long for updates! :(

Honestly, this story is really interesting and well written. I like the idea of benders in a modern au and you gave such a good explanation for it. There's also sooo many question I really want to hear the answer to. The fact that the story was last updated in March 2015 gives me hope; however, the fact that it's been going since 2008 does not. Cause then that means you could be losing interest and slowing updates or it just means it just takes about a year to get out two or so chapters.

I hope it's not the former, seeing as there seems to be a lot going on in the story and it seems like it'll take a while for all the loose ends to be tied up.

First of all - I love you for writing a sci-fi highschool Avatar AU.
After watching it for the first time (because century ol tvs just love me) I needed this. I may or may not have annoyed my friends for a few minutes when searching for 'avatar alien fanfiction' didn't work'
But yours is better than what I imagined:D
You get everyone very in-character and I like that you don't forget the age difference - Which happened to me during watching a lot, to be honest - and that you write them realistically (well, as realistic as a superpowers au can get).
The plot is intriguing too - I am very suspicious of Zuko's father's death. Especially because of his power... I wonder if his power makes people sick to death - literally. That makes me worry about Zuko.
I thought that Katara warning Aang about 'Lee' was funny, because it was almost the same thing Sokka told her about Jet in cannonxD
And now I'm going to read on, because I can't take this cliffhanger anymore...

Yep, mild sleep aids do not mess with your head. Good thing, since I take one every single night or else spend the wee hours on . :-p More of the wee hours, anyway. Good plot line, mature writing, the only thing I could ask for is more of the Gaang's original powers. Toph would sooo kick Azula's butt with her earth bending.
