Golly gosh! What a tear-jerking and hard-hitting fanfic! Georg being marched back to his villa in rags to be whipped by Zeller and humiliated in front of his friends and contemporaries is pure evil and tough to read. I totally understand why when he was goaded into committing suicide by the Nazi rat that he was close to obeying, especially because he has been told his family were captured and killed. I don't think Georg is a coward at all, far from it :( In fact, like one of your reviewers has said, it would have been nice for Maria to drive that point home in the scene where he breaks down and thinks she'll be repulsed by his scars. Thank God Max saved him though. Mind you, I still think this story is fabulous, I love the realism, and it's written like a pro. In fact, I hope you return and write an epilogue or some new chapters which see Georg and Maria in a much brighter place and maybe Zeller in a darker place, six feet under with any luck or at the very least, bitter in the knowledge that Captain von Trapp is alive and happy or contributing to the Nazis' demise in some way ;)

Love how, although Maria did talk about what was worrying her, in the beginning, they were just holding each other and easing their pain without words, and in the end found peace.

This was such a wonderful story. Everything about it was very real and you didn't shy away from some very hard themes.

The way it started out with only using the guns and then progressed to other things was great; and I especially liked how the shaving was something that wasn't planned.
That paragraph about evil and how you can really only get rid of evil for yourself was deep.

Glad Georg was able to have a catharsis.
The lines about the rain calming as his emotions had and his shirt being just as transparent as his soul were beautiful.

Just as heartfelt as the chapter that preceded it.
Love how after he'd mentioned wanting to leave Europe, the first thing he did was ask for her feelings and opinions on the matter. And that he was vulnerable enough to say he was scared for his own life and that he wasn't alright.
Once again, Maria's response was perfect.

This was beautiful.
Love that Georg finally poured out his heart to her. Everything he's done in the story, but this in particular really made things clear. I love that he told her outright that he wasn't a optimist and that he would've killed himself and cannot pretend otherwise.
And the way Maria told him she understood and was there for him, by kissing the scars was perfect!

Loved how Georg talked everything out with Liesl. The line about her being most like him out of all the children, a fact that scared him was great. I really liked how he asked if she had liked Rolfe and how one day she would find someone who would love her, and he would both hate and love that person because of it.
Also loved how he wanted to make it up to Maria with a nice romantic getaway, and that despite what happened at the restaurant, wanted to keep pushing on for his wife, even if it wasn't what she wanted, and that when it all blew up, realised he was in the wrong.
Hope they can patch it up.

Tense indeed.
But of course they only want each other to be safe and healthy and happy.
So glad Maria going into labour put things into perspective, and just how much Georg cared was very obvious. Love her asking him to stay and him staying.
The conversation about the whale was great and I love that they named the baby after his father and Max for the reasons they did.

That section about Georg trying to help the children after Agathe had died was wonderful. While it did make it seem a little more harsh, more than that it made the situation and him more complex. Well Done for that.
Love how Georg knew everything had not been 'fine' and wouldn't allow Maria to tell him that it was, and that he was prepared to do the same, before the children arrived.
That reunion was beautiful, and though Friedrich was separate, I liked how it was just as emotional. Gretl's 'Don't ever leave again' was adorable, and Max's final line was just classic.

Love Maria and Georg's parallel thoughts on seeing the other again; needing to know it wasn't a dream or apparition. But honestly, just like the moment, no words are really necessary.

Glad to see Georg safe, even if he is upset and disappointed in himself.
The line about how he could feel one of many emotions when he smiled was awesome, and I'm glad he managed to survive through his time at the Abbey. Indeed, in his situation, it would have felt like a prison.
The line about the view outside the window being just as beautiful as ever was a nice touch.

Oh my.
Very sad, but I do like that it ended with Max's arrival on a note of hope.
And that, as hard as everything has been, everyone has someone who cares for them, from Max and Elsa with Georg to Alex, Sophie and the Nuefelds for the rest.

Love that Elsa brings up the problems Max impromptu plan could cause, and her suggestion of going to the Abbey.
Max's past, and the flashback to his first meeting with Georg were BRILLIANT, and despite being unexpected, worked with him. As for Elsa, it makes me feel for her even more.

GO Max! Love how his break in was introduced via flashbacks to conversations with the children.
So glad he found Georg in time; and the fact that he was so broken when he did could help make for a quicker and easier escape.
Love how after Max told Georg the truth, he became his old self. The lines 'you slapped me' and ' you, arrogant, pompous, self-righteous toad' were awesome.
