Another bit I agreed with, “fact of life is that male and female can be 'just friends' for only so long... It's biology, we can't help it.” Some folks might disagree with that, but I agree with you about that. I am approaching my 30th anniversary, and realize the importance of making any male friends be friends with your husband as well. And his female friends need to be your friends, too. A spouse’s loyalty needs to be firmly with the other.

Also, Edward, Jacob, and Bella were all ‘good’ people, although flawed as we all are. I thought about this when you said, “Making the choice to love someone is not to be taken lightly.” Trying to be of good character and choosing someone like that, too, is so important. Like Alice said to Bella about having two good choices (although, like you explained, that made it difficult).

Yes, it is possible to love two people at once. I know they say you can loive many people all in different ways, but I DO believe that one can romantically love two people at the same time. It is painful and a very difficult situation. Someone is going to get hurt. :(

I think that its entirely possible to love more than one person at once. I love four currently...one of them i've liked since grade two... I dont think that he even notices me though... :(

I loved the way you explained this. Though I have to say that I really think that Bella always felt for Jacob more "filial love" than anything else. When she asked Jacob to kiss her she did it because she felt she could stop him from getting hurt. But I don't really think that means she was loving him in a different way. The love that she feels for Edward is more "true love" (I don't know how else to call it) the love you feel when you find the right person for you. So I don't really think she loves two men at the same time, she just loves Edward as her partner-her other half-and Jacob as her brother and there is a difference there...

so..i do not believe that's correct. because you'd being saying that girls can't be 'just friends' with guys for...a very long time.

it's completely possible..just like it is with bella and emmett! they're frieds-she sees him as a brother

You know, I really love your theories. Jacob is my favorite character from Twilight, and even though I know Edward and Bella will always be just that, Edward and Bella, I can't help but want Jacob to find love, too. Wow, lots of commas there. Anyway, I think Bella totally loves them both, and in my perfect-scenario, Bella would have answered the phone instead of Jacob, Edward would see that Bella was still alive, and Jacob would have gotten his kiss. I lent Eclipse to my friend, and I said "wasn't it good?" And she said, "NO! I hated it! Why did Bella fall in love with Jacob? It's all wrong!" I, personally, think that the situation strengthens Bella's bond with Edward. There is someone else out there, who is in a way her soul mate. He can love her unconditionally, and won't hurt her, and she could do the same for him. But, after trying that route, she realizes she loves Edward EVEN MORE than that. Many people think that her love for Jacob weakens her love for Edward, but I think that it shows how truly deeply they are connected.

I think you're very right on so many points. Loving more than one person at a time is possible, yet usually requires a number of years behind you to completely understand what is happening. You can even be married - almost 20 years - and another person flies into your heart without warning and you're upside down. It's the choices you make, the choices to honor a life together and your commitments that can make a love you thought was dying out suddenly reignite. Too often youth will make a person give up too soon. Of course, this is all hypothetical. :)

Well thought out - I also think Bella's feelings when it came to Jake helped her put her feelings for Edward in a different perspective as well. It allowed her to see what she had with him in a different light.
