Guest chapter 14 . 1/26 I was amused that so many people commenting here resent the fact of corporal punishment as being "unfair" and "it doesn't suit Hogwarts". Or, complaining that Draco wasn't punished. Really, people? Have you read books at all? This is the school where kids are playing dangerous sport which can injure or kill you or are being sent (as 12-years olds) to the forest with ferocious creatures. This is the place where your teacher can morph you into animal as punishment and where you have to participate in murder games (nicely named as Triwizard Tournament). This is the place where ordinary people (muggles) are generally treated as worse (yes, by ALL wizards). Don't idealise Hogwarts, because it isn't OUR environment - I mean XX/XXI century in Western culture. We have different values and it's ridiculous to compare them (wizards) to us. BTW, I remember Filch lamenting about lack of corporal punishment in Hogwarts, so it means that kind of punishment was used there a while ago. I don't want to engage in dispute over legitimacy of punishing Harry in this way. He deserved some punishment for almost killing a man, not sure what kind of punishment, but, yeah. What I loved here was how accurately you caught Snape's personality, his behaviour and what being a spy actually means. I've never read anything more on point. I always find funny that people are cross because Snape isn't kind and smiling. Seriously? This guy is a spy, practically everyday risks his life and you expect him to be ...nice? Lol. I'm not one of these crazy Snape's fangirls, I know he isn't saint and doesn't have kind personality to start with, but come on. A bit of understanding would be nice. And you understood this stress, pressure and constant danger of being a spy perfectly. Thanks for sharing. I know my English isn't good (I'm better at reading than writing;), but I hope it's understandable. |
Liz Jean Tonks chapter 1 . 12/31/2018 After I have left a review on the other story I still feel the need to say something about this version as well. I love the characters, I have already said that before - here, in this version we also get to see more of Ron and Hermione which was great! They, too, were described very close to the books. So was Dumbledore. Again, thanks for posting. I don't think the plot's terrible as others have stated. I think it is well thought-out and realistic. |
Kari chapter 14 . 10/18/2018 I cant deny it is - mostly- a well written story but with a terrible plot. I read until the end with the hope that there would be a breaking point sort of thing in which adults would realize that corporal punishment can not be accepted but ... that never came. I think i've never read a less-wise portrayal of Dumbledore ever. I think Snape is an interesting character but that does not mean that his mistakes are not the result of his own decisions, more over I dont think that a "punishment phase" is the way to reach an understanding between Snape and Harry, especially in a school enviroment. So, this a no-no for me. (sorry, i'm not fluent in english) |
Cutiepie120048 chapter 2 . 10/30/2017 BS! Malfoy was gonna use an Unforgivable - he was defending himself and I don't care what Dumbledore or Snape says. Have that monster arrested - HE HAS NO SELF CONTROL OF HIS ACTIONS AND SHOULD BE PUT IN AZKANBAN! |
thewandcrafter chapter 14 . 3/9/2017 That was brilliantly done - and absolutely brilliantly concluded. Well done! And thank you. |
Love2read23 chapter 14 . 2/15/2017 Once I read your note about the twin story, I went to that one and read up to where I was in this one (chapter 5) and from there read them side by side. There's a lot of description and prose that is the same for both so it was a tedious endeavor but it was made slightly better by the back and forth. I'm sure if you so endeavored you would be able to simply combine the two since neither is really told in first person but third person in their perspective. It's a good story and I really like Dumbledore's conversation with Harry and how it was able to correct Harry's behavior in addition to the caning. (Fyi, my brain supplied canning as the wording until I realized that it was cane). This story helped me realize the benefits in corporal punishment in punishing teenagers. Your character development and exposition is well done. Thanks for writing. |
E. Beckham chapter 13 . 9/11/2016 I just reread the entire story. I realized that this is the conversation that I always wanted Dumbledore, Snape and Harry to have. Thank you! |
Sher chapter 14 . 6/19/2016 Well, that was certainly amazing and well-written story. Thanks to you and your betas! |
Cassiopeia Black Emrys chapter 14 . 10/22/2015 Really good story, maybe a bit short but rather that then dragged out way past what the storyline can actually manage. Well written and I like your "writing type" (that sounds weird, what I mean is your way of writing and how you choose to word it) :) /kajjjann |
cztelnik chapter 14 . 5/29/2015 This was awesome. Oddly I have a reticence to read the twin story, this is do good on its own with a bit of mystery about Snape's thoughts and motives... I bet it's good tho. |
denise.schultz.165 chapter 7 . 12/18/2014 First half not bad |
lilyflower101 chapter 14 . 9/10/2014 i think snape and Draco should have been caned as well. snape bullied his students and got away with it. that wasn't right. it was the same thing with Draco. |
staretoile chapter 14 . 12/17/2013 Hi, nice how their relationship changes to the better and Harry understands why Snape acts like he does. I had fun reading your story! Kind regards Andrea |
