The anime doesn't really cover the psychological aspect of the characters, especially shinichi.
I mean, after everything he's been through, there has got to be plenty of mental scars...
Plus, covering this aspect create a wide space 4 fluff w

In fact, maybe you could write a sequel for this fix where shinichi couldn't resist the temptation to restock the pills and Kid ended up calling Hattori

I love how Kid help him understand but also won't let him have it back and even give him something to look forward in a Good way!
Poor Shinichi/Conan... He held onto suicide 'tools' until Kid took them from him. I'm glad Kid took it and won't give it back.

Whenever I read this I can't help but wonder what would've happened if Kid had called Heiji and told him about the kit under the bed.

"I'm three feet shorter than I should be, so I'm going to be open minded about that subject" - I like this line a lot. It made me smile, in a dry way.
A dark fiction, a little melodramatic, but the way you spelled out the circumstances it worked and touch of humour at the end with the sleeping gas made it work.

Really, this kind of fics bring a smile to my face.

I totally undestand Conan's reasons when you put it that way.
And I loved Kid, "no one gets hurt" and offering his help.
I would have liked to see Heiji hear about it, though.
The ending was wonderful, Kid telling Conan he has some control... and letting him sleep.
