Fascinating! I can't help but like this better than canon. I think Luke and Leia will still grow into their best traits, but from a firmer foundation - Luke, acting from his natural strengths as an optimistic diplomat, and having had a "real" family. Leia, not constrained by her role as a princess and able to pursue what she believes is the right course without holding back. Obviously, they still make mistakes and must mature, but I feel like they'd have been better off not having to have spent their whole lives fighting who they really are in orded to fit the roles they must play; in other words, the house will be stronger in the end for having had a better foundation. Now I wish this was canon!

I honestly don't get why you called this a crack-fic; it seem like an extremely reasonable way of looking at the two characters and how they might have acted in each other's circumstances.
The parts of Luke being a diplomat made a lot of sense and Leia is neither as calm nor forgiving which would definitely affect how the final battle plays out.
