I am not sure why you kept Carolyn in the final scene at all. In fact that is a weird choice in a ton of OC/Riddick fics. They impose a new character in the film's dynamic but then try and keep the original storyline... the problem is if Riddick has a love interest or even just a connection with someone it changes the story already. In the original film Carolyn does dump the passengers, Owen stops her by jamming the doors open and he dies because of it. Riddick learns this and gives her some respect for being willing to kill for survival, and then her refusal to sacrifice the remaining survivors and accept death in their stead awakens his own humanity again... showing him that perhaps risking his neck is worth something. The problem with your final scene is that you have your own OC and Carolyn doing the same thing, if Riddick has chemistry or feelings for someone it means the whole arc of regaining his humanity is changed. And if he would actually leave her then he doesn't actually care and the chemistry is just physical... great for smut writing but not romance. You can't say that their is real emotion if Riddick doesn't feel any... all because you need to fit into the movie's plotline.

I've got to say: Loved it, loved almost every bit about it. I am a tiny bit disappointed things didn't get a little more heated between the two (Riddick and Eris), but I guess that's what sequels are for. Neh?

I was so excited to see this updated and finished! This was always one of my favorite riddick fics. Great story!
