Dizzcity chapter 1 . 1/4/2008 Excellent piece of work, though there are a couple of errors to watch out for: - "the ancestors of her beloved sister" should be "the DESCENDANTS of her beloved sister" instead, and - "She loved Garion, perhaps even more so than she had his predecessors, since she was actually the one who had brought him up" is a little strange, especially if you read Polgara the Sorceress, because to some extent Pol brought up all of them. (But maybe you were referring to the fact that Garion was the first that was orphaned from birth, and thus had no one but Pol. If that is what you meant, then this criticism doesn't apply.) Other than those two small issues, this is a wonderful fic, so gentle and nostalgic, with such a quiet mood. I love the quiet interactions between the two, especially viewing Durnik from Polgara's eyes and seeing the hints of half-formed love that she herself doesn't yet recognise. Both were very much in-character, and I love how SOLID this little glimpse of time feels - like it matches perfectly with what we know of their relationship and characterises the essence of the romance between Polgara and Durnik - quiet strength, stable comfort. Beautiful. Thank you. |
