Guest chapter 1 . 8/12/2013 Beautiful. You're style is engaging and thrilling, almost intimidating. You have a great abiliy to accurately capture a character, and are skilled at drawing in your reader. This is without question the best piece of writing I have read in a long time. |
Guest chapter 1 . 8/2/2013 Wow, this was incredible and almost made me cry. I never have read a fanfiction so well done in my life. It broke my heart and reminded me I had feels once again. |
LittleZebragus chapter 1 . 12/31/2012 As a fan of pessimistic literature and Smash Bros, I'm glad I stumbled onto this fic. |
SkylerOcon chapter 1 . 1/19/2009 blah blah blah You already got my feedback on this over at smashboards. Good job on getting this added to the Golden Hammer as well. |
Social Bunny chapter 1 . 1/7/2009 Wow. This was probably the best SSB piece I've read. Captain Falcon is a character that's always overly-cocky and that version of his personality gets old quickly. The broken!Falcon is refreshing. As for the writing itself - it's great. |
Razzkat chapter 1 . 12/16/2008 I fav’d this long ago, but I never reviewed…anyway, because of this story and Requiem to Misery’s I’m a complete sucker for Falcon x Marth now. The writing in this is beautiful. After I read it, I really wanted to write a Falcon x Marth fic myself (I have yet to come up with some sort of original and decent plot after all these months, however :) ). But your story is excellently written. The language is gorgeous (the image of Marth’s eyes just hidden behind his bangs always comes to me as a description for him now). Your choice of Falcon’s voice as the perspective is unique and well done, and his reflections on giving up his past life were heartfelt and very frank. Rick being integrated with the…somewhat more canon F-Zero games was unique also, giving an alternative testament to Falcon’s life. And I loved the Falcon-Marth interaction; their dialogue and…flirting? :D fit them well, not to mention their battle styles, with Falcon’s “brute force” and Marth’s elegance. In conclusion: gorgeous piece. My only critique is that there are many layers to this story, from Falcon and Marth’s original meeting to Marth meeting him again to Rick Wheeler and Samus helping him out to Falcon reflecting on all this, making it a bit confusing and causing the themes to pile up on top of one another. Normally I would suggest picking one theme to run with, like racing or reflecting on the past or how Marth makes Falcon “colorblind”; however, all of them mixed together also make the narrative beautiful, so I dunno what to say to that. Anyway, I loved this story, and it has stuck with me for a long time. Kudos on your writing! |
RoyalFanatic chapter 1 . 6/23/2008 Wow, this was really nice. Very well-written and stuff. *is lame* Actually, I'm pretty speechless right now; either that or I can't find the right words to say. Eh, don't we all have our moments when fics do that? This was excellent; keep up the good work! |
Mild Guy chapter 1 . 12/18/2007 For me, this story was like reading Glory Road by Heinlein. I don’t want to spoil the story here, but let’s just say that this manages to be pretty erotic without being a, uhh, I think the kids call it a lemon nowadays. Like many stories that I enjoy, this piece transverses several genres, while at the same time never bothering to settle down in one particular category. Captain Falcon’s combined longing and regret and undeserved guilt really touched me, in a way the characters of your other stories have not. That’s not to say I didn’t care about the characters in your other stories. You know from my past reviews that I’m invested in them, I feel anxiety over their fates, they’re interesting and they seem as real as they could get. But Finish Line’s a little different. Could it be I’m identifying with the Captain? Good lord, call the men in white coats to come take me away already. I’m curious about the color green used as a symbol. On one level, this line seems to sum up what it represents: “Just gun it, man, the way you old dogs do. Racers, bounty hunters, fighters—none are young anymore past thirty. You know it. Your time is almost over. Last chance. This won’t happen again.” If Falcon could do it all over again, would he change a thing? The answer here seems to be no. He’s driven to fight, he has to go on. I look forward to reading this multiple times, to see how else it strikes me. Thank you for this One last note. The whole time reading this fic, the F-Zero GX Captain Falcon theme lyrics kept running through my head. I shall now inflict them upon all who gaze here. In this world you’ve got to be strong, You’ve got to fight to keep your spirit alive, And you might feel like there’s nothing left to go for and fight for, But it’s the fight that keeps us ready and on top Even I can feel the power, When I think of you, I can see no fear, feel no pain… Forever he will be my hero (Better believe he knows the way) And not just only for tonight And now that I'm not just a dreamer (And I know I got what he's got) And not just only for tonight Swing your arms from side to side, C’mon everybody! Do the Falcon! |
Herr Wozzeck chapter 1 . 12/16/2007 Yeah! Dark, and depressing. You did a very good job setting the atmosphere (as usual), and you also pulled off the Marth/Falcon thing pretty well. So, fav'd. Please keep bestowing great gifts upon this site. |
Requiem to Misery chapter 1 . 12/15/2007 Whoa, I've gotten something dedicated to me? Whoa! Very cool. Getting on topic-oh gosh, my heart aches. You, dear writer (for I'm still not quite sure what pronoun to use, as embarrassing as it is to admit it) have a talent for wiring the raw emotion into the words so that it just slams straight into the reader. That's a good thing. I think my heartstrings have been yanked assertively. It's a good kind of hurt, an empathizing hurt, I guess, but... wow. See, you're getting me to babble, sort of. It's well written and not overly adorned, and even though it makes my heart break I love it to pieces. I'm completely incoherent right now, and I'm just sorry this isn't exactly the most intelligent review you'll ever get, but I love it and I'm really happy that I get an awesome fic dedicated to me. And there wasn't really need to pay me back or anything, but hey! If writing Marth and Falcon as a pair gets you to write awesome fic for me, then by all means I ought to write more. ... I'm kidding, of course. Seriously, though, I'm glad you liked that attempt of mine enough to write something dedicated to me! Egads, that's exciting. Okay, I'm done babbling. A favorite is in order, of course, not only because it is polite but because this fic deserves it at least thirty times over. However, the site probably will not let me list it thirty times in my favorite stories list, so I'll have to make do with just once. D Cheers, Kazuki P.S. I don't know about you, but for me there's something satisfying to being able to put "end" on something. Maybe it's something like hanging a framed painting and stepping back to admire it, finally, because you're done. |
bijoukaiba chapter 1 . 12/15/2007 Well, I certainly have to fave this! During the course of my own fanfic (as well as a few by other authors), I've become quite a fan of Falcon x Marth! Very nice, I liked how their romance progressed, and I liked the interaction between Falcon and Samus as well. _ b |
Uppgreyedd to 2021 ASAP chapter 1 . 12/10/2007 Wow... just wow. This is definatly one of the best one shots I've ever read. And that's saying something seeing as how I don't jack about the F-Zero series. |
