This has been on my favorites for a while now, but I'm bad at timely reviews. So, here goes. XD

I just wanted to say thank you for this. After just re-watching "The Pegasus Project" I was struck with how... mean everyone from Atlantis was being to Rodney. Even Weir seemed to be poking a little more fun at his expense than usual. So, after the episode was over I had to jump on here and re-read this to remind myself that they really do like Rodney in Atlantis, it's just difficult for outsiders to get. You captured that outsider look at McKay nicely.

I do agree, given the little bits we see in the ep (such as Mitchell's "under threat of impending death [Mckay] could work absolute miracles" line being something he admits Sheppard told him, and that bit where he catches McKay before he could fall when they're being attacked by the Wraith ship) there had to have been an additional conversation between Sheppard and Mitchell off screen.

Well, this turned into a bit of a diatribe, now didn't it? Anyway, the POINT was, I love this story/character study, what have you. One of my favorites of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your take on Atlantis with the rest of us.

SGA1 could totally take the later versions of SG1.

This was really a cool little piece. I liked seeing the Team through Cam's eyes, and I liked that Sheppard gave him something concrete to keep McKay in line, but at the same time gave a far greater admonishment for caution to Cam. Nice team-y spirit throughout, too. :)

I love the whole examination of how people around him react to Rodney and what Cam sees when he first meets him. Then what Cam sees in the team gathered round him, what calibre of people they are so that, in the end, he takes his measure of Rodney McKay from the kind of team who have him on his team. Nice thoughts on SG1 and SGA1 as well. After all, if there wasn't more to Vala than meets the eye she wouldn't be there either!

Um... YES. This is Rodney. In a nutshell, and a very nicely crafted nutshell at that. One of the best charachter studies I've read, and So. True. I can't even begin to say which lines were my favourites, I'd just end up copying the whole fic. I have no critique to give, other than 'WOW' and I'm a bit miffed at that, but, well, this is great. And I'm rambling, so I'm stopping now. Thanks for writing and posting!

Oh man, I cannot put into words how much I love this. For all of Rodney's difficult characteristics, he IS much more than a whiny astrophysicist with a citrus allergy. He's a worthy member of Sheppard's team, and I think I love this fic so much because for once a fic talks about Rodney's value. I have a soft spot for fics where people are obviously fond of Rodney, since he can be so difficult and seems pretty well disliked. And this fic clearly shows the others regard for Rodney, and it makes me feel so warm and happy. (Rodney's my favorite character and doesn't get enough love, in my opinion).

hmm...didn't like it much at first; thought mitchell wasn't fair to rodney or whatever, i mean honestly, just cuz the guy's not modest doesn't mean anything. sheppard isn't either. but you salvaged the entire thing in just the last few sentences. impressive.

Okay, this takes some of the pain off this stupid episode. Is it just me, or is anybody else longing for Sam to lose her shine? Whatever screwups she pulls (replicators?), they never stick.
