I'm guessing you don't plan on continuing this story, so you might as well mark it 'complete'...

I stopped believing in coincidence a few decades ago.

Tonight, interspersed with the later chapters of this story, I read (at my wife's behest) a truly EXCELLENT article by Mark Manson (find him on Facebook ... you won't regret it) called "Love is Not Enough". It is brilliant, and is most perfectly suited to the characters in your beautiful tale. And beautiful it is. I don't think I've ever seen another reference to the minor characters from The Divine Comedy in a piece of fan-fiction. And so achingly apt! Kudos!

These are the Three Harsh Truths About Love:
1. Love does not equal compatibility.
2. Love does not solve your relationship problems.
3. Love is not always worth sacrificing yourself.

What this means is that, although Trent can Rock Her World, that is one of the few common points they have, and a deep relationship requires more than that. She's quite a bit more cerebral than he. He's more artistic than she. He shouldn't have to give up his music for her; she shouldn't have to give up going to college for him.

They've got three months to figure all this out. I hope they can do so, and still part on good terms.

Which is a real shame, because Daria and Trent are UTTERLY unsuited for a life together.

Hmm. Guilt. Guilt is corrosive. It will eat through just about any defense one cares to put up.

That's a tough place for Daria to be.

Did she do the "right thing"? Eh ... probably not. Not in conventional terms. Tom is going to know, once they've made love, that he wasn't her first. Therefore he is going to know that she lost her virginity very recently. How will he feel about this? I fear that, perhaps, his level of maturity is not quite as, ah ... developed as she imagines. I believe he will be livid, and feel betrayed and hurt ... harmed, even.

Really interested in where you're going with this.

This is a surprisingly sweet story, really well written too. Since you haven't updated in almost 5 years, I won't bother to ask for more, but, in any case, I do hope you keep writing, you have a lot of talent.
