When i stumbled upon this i decided to take a peek for the sake of sheer parody. What i didn't expect was a very symbolic depiction of emotional maturation. It touched me very deeply. The author cleverly uses fanfiction as a cover for very real-life themes. Characters go thought process of maturation, from very self-centered 'emotional children' to fully grown adults, now ready to make a life of their own. They learn from their mistakes and dare to try to change (which they do, even in appearance). And of course, a very deserved happy end - anthem for love, for all of us who believe in it.
-Of course, the fact that The Hogfather itself deals with theme of maturity, giving us these two immature protagonists gives this work special touch. The author saw very well though characters and uses them cleverly as plot drive. This is quite legit alternate continuation.
-I personally don't read this as fanfiction but rather as an independent moral fable; as a bright hope and prayer in my own adventure of maturing. I strive for my happy ending.
