Love it. Especially how Olivia finally found family who would help her in times of need, but LOVED how Elliot flew all the way over to France. Thanks for posting.

Just re-read this and it was just as wonderful as the first time I read it. The last chapter brought tears to my eyes. Very well written. :)

And on your note about the ending... well, I just think it is appropiate. The whole story is like a little peek into the deepest of their souls. It's what is not and never will be said in SVU. The real essence of the characters.

You just put in words what I've always thought about this. something that I've never managed to do.

This is, in a way, how I think it'd actually end someday. The more I learn about the characters and the complexity of their beings, the more sure I am that something like this is going to happen:

Olivia reaching a breaking point that has been long expected. The time when the roughness of her past and loneliness of her present will overwhelm her and demand an action from her.

The inevitable (either shot or long-therm) separation of the two of them landing into a deep reflexion, realization and recognition of their lives. The real meaning of them to one another. And, finally, a futile and yet unknown ending that will crash on them.

I certainly would prefer it the way you ended this story. I mean, by giving a chance to fate and letting themselves get what they have earned out of life! Or maybe it would turn to the way my twisted mind will go somethimes... tragically.

I've always feel like the only way that an everhurting life could end is by following that same path.

In this particular case, and considering the complicated and messed up their lives are, it would be cartain to think that if they ever get appart, they would go into a great depression nad they would end up committing suicide or purposely letting themselves get killed... At least that's what I thing.

I deeply apologize for this inner chattering, but you made my mind start whirling around, and I couldn't stop it!

It's a decent ending. As you wrote, "this is isn't a fairytale." Relationships, especially those that include children from a previous marriage, career stresses, and other job issues (one of them would have to transfer because it is illegal for NYPD partners to be married to each other)require realistic approaches in order to work. For example, if his children are not initially enthusiastic about the breakup, then he will have to visit them without her presence, at least until they accept their parents' new marital situation.

I wish you success with your future writing efforts.
