This was beautifully written! Incredibly sad but a very well done take on L's past. All of his quirks and mannerisms are explained wonderfully and the relationship between him and Watari was magnificent.

It makes you wonder what happens afterwards...

I'm really glad you didn't overextend the abuse. Some authors fall for a certain cliche and I'm glad with your choices. I like the continuous use of numbers, with L sitting and counting. It was subtle but still an appearance of his growing intelligence, and I found Watari's concern very touching.

Oh. My. God. I am completely and utterly speechless. Luckily, no speaking is required in order to write a tool and I am still able to type. This is by FAR the best L Childhood fic that I have read so far, and believe me, this is number 30 in the marathon of them I am reading right now. Everything seems to fit perfectly in to place: L's sugar addiction, his pseudonyms (L and Coil), his alias of Ryuuzaki, the way he sits, his posture, his way of holding things, why he doesn't wear shoes, why he never sleeps, his social awkwardness (which I find adorable), how he met Watari, why he may not like human contact (I'm not completely sure whether or not it true since it wasn't really elaborated in the series, but it is a possibility), why his real first name is L, and just how intelligent he really is. Keep writing!
