Obviously I cannot speak to the accuracy with which you recreated the feelings of being trapped in prison, but you certainly nailed the appreciativeness that comes in response the the realization that one is not alone. Wonderful story. I rediscovered Life after watching Homeland and remembering how fantastic Damian Lewis was in that. I really miss this show and have been enjoying discovering fanfic like yours.

Fave Parts:

Giving Charlie a critical glance, Ted was momentarily overcome with gratitude. Here was a young man who had suffered greatly and had still found the strength to survive and help others. Charlie hadn't deserved prison, but had done his best to keep Ted, who had deserved to be there, from getting into too much trouble. His friends and family may have deserted him, and his ability to achieve Zen meditation may be temporarily offline, but one thing Charlie did have going for him was Ted's loyalty.

Aw, poor Charlie. Yea for Ted! He seems to be a really good friend to Charlie, and you've done a great job showing their history and friendship. Good job including the fence reference from "Let Her Go" and having Charlie thank Ted for taking it down.

Thank you for this truly lovely piece. I love the relationship between Ted and Charlie and you've given us a touching scene that explores how a shared experience can create a bond stronger than friendship.

I believe, in order for the show to be realistic, it will have to deal with the potential for a Charlie-breakdown. Who can go through all of the horrors and abandonment without moments of collapse.

But until they show this on the screen (writers' strike notwithstanding) we have your story to keep us on thinking. Thanks again for this vivid and in-character scene.
