I like the insertion of that Elizabeth speech about Shep sucking it up and doing his bit to allay the fears of their people- I'm glad you put it in [makes me feel like I'm finally doing something right as a beta *glees*] and it is so completely suited to Elizabeth's character and seamlessly integrated into the rest of the fic. And you worked in a Conversion reference too!

I love the Elizabeth/Teyla friendship here. It's not the focus of the fic, but it comes through quite strongly. They're in character but they're not in 'I am leader of my people and must make sacrifices for the greater good and struggle with moral dilemmas that could affect the fate of the galaxy' mode. It's good to seem them as normal women, you know? I'm getting 'Echoes' vibes here, you know in that scene with Heightmeyer, where she asks when they last took a day off and they exchange guilty looks and are conspicuously silent, like schoolgirls being gently reproached by the teacher? Well, in this fic, they're not in trouble, but they've got that air of mischievous female collusion going on, trading glances and bursting into hysterics over the funny image Shep presented and then trying to dim down the hilarity and apologize for making him feel bad, even while getting in a few sly remarks just to put him in his place. It's so wonderful, and I enjoy reading that!
