Aileil chapter 1 . 2/5/2015 Thanks so much for this story! I not only love Star Trek, but I am also a bit of a fan of history and I always love reading about that love of history being carried forward into the age of space exploration. After all, it's what makes us human isn't it? Thanks again! :) |
NeverTooMuchInspiration chapter 1 . 9/11/2014 Concussions can do strange things to your head and your imagination. It's always a good bit of drama and excitement when Malcolm and water have a disagreement. |
LoyaulteMeLie chapter 1 . 5/5/2012 An intriguing story, very well written. |
Ganheim chapter 1 . 5/17/2009 Depending upon the water’s salinity, he might be able to stay afloat [I’m not sure how water salinity would have an effect on buoyancy, yes it would exist but the difference would probably be negligible] I’m afraid if it goes, it'll take Hoshi’s console with it. [I know this is how Star Trek does it, but hasn’t the Federation ever heard of fuses or surge protectors?] before it’s suction pulled one down with it. [I was about to say that this is a myth with inconclusive support from sinkings, but this isn’t necessarily from an objective, informed standpoint and therefore makes sense. Though ‘its’ would be the possessive of ‘it’] same sentence. Or same paragraph. [I assumed the point of the paragraph bit being unvoiced dialog, but if this is the case some punctuation to clarify would be nice] (considering his medicated condition, or perhaps because of it) [I’ve always heard impressions are easier to make ‘when you’re loosened’] Amusing, and felt true to the characters. Details were well put forth without being obtrusive, and there was a pleasant lack of technical errors. |
Serit chapter 1 . 9/27/2008 This was nice, I would say well-researched, but Cameron's 'reconstruction' of the Titanic's interiors are probably the most accurate ever made, so one can get a feel for the ship from watching the movie... Malcolm *really* needs an origami boat in the shuttlepod! |
Philippe de la Matraque chapter 1 . 12/5/2007 Good story. When I had read books about the Titanic, I was drawn to Harold Bride, the junior wireless operator, and the only one of the two to survive. I get the feeling you knew about those two guys somewhat, too. Good adaptation here. I enjoyed it. Would you be willing to help me write little stories about Hoshi and Malcolm in my story? Stories they'll tell each other to keep their minds off of what I'm...um, the scientists are doing to them. If so, please join my group of AlienUsCollaboration at yahoogroups. I think you're a good writer and could help. Thanks. |
Bineshii chapter 1 . 11/30/2007 "Hah!" I said as zeroed in on the title. "Someone knows the old distress code. The Titanic used it, and also used the newer one." Then I read the story..."hot damn! another Titanic-o-phile!" So a good plot emerged, and some realistic details. Loved this story, with its interplay between two disaters on the water that are about 250 years apart. Rarely do I read a fan fic that I connect with in such excitement. Good job! |
Begoogled chapter 1 . 11/20/2007 Interesting sub-story about Malcolm's hallucination with the Titanic. I didn't know the old CQD, so that's an interesting detail. Funny that Trip showed all those water related movies. 'Lawrence of Arabia' sounds like the perfect solution :) I must admit I found Trip's southern accent a bit strong, but that's just personal preference. Thanks for writing! |
volley chapter 1 . 11/19/2007 Great Story! Loved the alternation of 'real time' and 'imagined time'. And the CQD stuff was interesting. I take it it's all true. Good characterisations, fun plot, tension, a bit of humour... all the right ingredients are there! Thank you for writing this! |
Sita Z chapter 1 . 11/19/2007 It was a treat to come home and find your new story waiting :)! I loved how you wove the two storylines together; after watching the film, Malcolm's fears must have been very close to the surface (no pun intended ;) ), and the shock combined with his concussion triggered the hallucination. Very well done! My favorite part was Malcolm waking up in sickbay, and Trip's explanation of the CQD signal. I think I know whom Malcolm was seeking :)... Thanks for a great contribution to the DMM, Glory! |
LadyRainbow chapter 1 . 11/19/2007 Glory, I really enjoyed reading "Drowning..." and this story is awesome (knew you'd find a way to put Mal and Trip on Titanic LOL). Wonderful Mal/Trip interaction. Always thought CQD meant "Come Quick, D*it." But I kinda like Trip's explanation better. :) Great tale! |
Emiliana Keladry chapter 1 . 11/18/2007 I love Indiana Jones! That was such a good story! I was a bit confused at first with what Malcolm was thinking, but Titanic makes sense. Excellent story! Emma |
