I love it. It carries just the right hint of sorrow and pain intermingled with hope. You got Chloe's characterization perfectly, a mix of serious concern with lighthearted banter. "It's not everyday a girl gets her own pet alien." And Clark's brooding was portrayed well.

And your descriptions were simply superb: "The world around her felt frozen." "It could have een a beautiful day." "Let him grieve. Let him shed tears. Clark deserved that much."

Finally, the plot itself was direct and plain, right to the point. No beating around the bush. It was extremely well-written and laid out for the reader. Nice job.
