Reviews for Finding Elrond
Woman of Letters chapter 6 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Awards Review (December):

The end of this story was a great way to comment on the brother's relationship from the outsider viewpoint of our (at this point much-loved) OC. The interchange Elliott witnessed at the end, the question of where the healing energy Sam needed came from, was a sweet surprise and it made the story for me.

The best surprise was the last line. Of course Dean will find out all of Sam's secrets. He's just awesome that way.
Woman of Letters chapter 5 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Awards Review (Chapter 5):

The story has come full circle, with the plotlines of the Landrys, Sam's unhealing wound, and the recurring question - Has Sam given up on healing - coming back and intertwining. The added question - I'm not in pain like before, is this a hallucination, coupled with the image of Dean planting flowers was a great way to end this chapter.

Of course, how do you get Dean to relax? Pit him against a bunch of gun-toting rednecks. All in a night's play for Dean Winchester.
Woman of Letters chapter 4 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Award (chapter 4):

You play with a lot of themes in this story. One theme, Sam's struggle with the idea of being "worthy" of being saved, his reaction to the idea of the "monster within" - the demon blood - and of him being responsible, in a way, for his own mother's death - you show that to good effect in this chapter. It comes out both in Dean's conversation with Elliott, and with them both wondering - is Sam himself the blockage to his own healing? It's nice, therefore, to see Sam fighting sleep at the end of this chapter. It tells me that he's not given up, that perhaps he's not the lost case that the Landry woman was.
Woman of Letters chapter 3 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Award Review (chapter 3):

One great way in which you've continued to build the OC in this chapter is the hint at the beginning that Elliott has traveled widely, that he has been to many places - echoing his own thoughts about his multiple teachers in an earlier chapter.

I like how he deals with the supernatural aspects of the wound so matter-of-factly. There is no willing belief or disbelief, simply an open mind.

The end of the chapter, where you continue the Elrond motif, where he's trying to unblock the healing and putting Dean to sleep at the same time - that was a very cute ending.

And I'm glad that there are some good John memories/stories in this story.
Woman of Letters chapter 2 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Awards Review (Chapter 2):

Elliot Walsh is a very well-drawn original character. Your portrayal of Dean's assessment of him (and his initial assessment of the boys) was fun to read. "He looked like a regular guy, no hands raised to the heavens invoking God, and that sold Dean enough that he was willing to take a chance on him." He's a much more matter-of-fact healer than the guy in the episode Faith - I can see why having a more traditional Christian-like faith healer would turn Dean off, especially after what happened to him in that episode.

Great ending to the chapter - "Sammy needed a bath. Never ask if life could get weirder. It always did."
Woman of Letters chapter 1 . 1/5/2016
Supernatural Fanfiction Monthly Awards Review:

I really enjoyed the way you built up the tension and the premise in this first chapter - Sam's dire condition, Dean's desperation to save him. I also loved the use of the Lord of the Rings imagery - Dean taking Sam to Rivendell to find Elrond. Even though Dean doesn't believe, he's hoping for that miracle. The quest for a fantasy healer, for the miracle elf, was the perfect metaphor for this story.

Another big plus here was your characterization. So many small touches screamed Sam and Dean, like Sam's concern that Dean is hurting himself by caring for him coming across in these lines: "He felt Dean's soft laughter and smiled. He hadn't heard it in a while and knew he was the cause of it. While he may be the injured one, it hadn't escaped Sam's attention that his brother was looking ragged around the edges."

Bits and pieces of the story could be slightly more active. This is a small critique. For example, in the last line, "Sam drifted off while hearing Dean telling the tale of a four-year-old preparing a nest in a 1967 Impala to bring his baby brother home". Consider changing the first part to: "Sam drifted off to Dean's tale of..." That more active language seems smoother. When you have a chance, I suggest reading this through for active/passive language.
SPN Mum chapter 6 . 12/27/2015
Supernatural Fan Fiction Monthly Awards Review - December

This story was a lot of fun to read. I really liked Elliot Walsh. He fit into the life quite well, and meeting Sam and Dean gave him a new outlook on his life. They helped him just as much as he helped them. Elliot's characterization was fully developed, and his interaction's with Sam and Dean were enjoyable to read. I could see him very clearly and I felt sad that he was blamed for the death of Mrs. Landry, especially because she didn't want to be saved. I really liked Dean's solution to Elliot's Landry problem. You did a wonderful job bringing the healing of both Sam and Elliot to fruition. This was a super enjoyable read for me.

Supernatural Fan Fiction Monthly Awards-Short Story/Drama-Dec 2015

Nicely written piece. I like the way you contrasted Sam's healing with Elliot's, as well as the chance to see the Winchesters through someone else's eyes. I should have realised that Eliot would need physical proof, but I wasn't expecting the black smoke from Sam's wound!

And I loved that last line of dialogue!

Aw, I LOVED this fic! Came by on a rec and am so glad I did. I love stories about the boys' faith and spirituality and their special connection to powers they don't even always believe in. And what's not to love about bonding over home videos and caramel rolls? :) Thanks for sharing it!
