Amalthia chapter 2 . 7/27/2019
I had a great time reading your story! I loved the plot, concept, character voices, and I was on the edge of my seat more than once.
Rogue Tomato chapter 82 . 2/15/2018
I just finished reading this whole thing and wow... loved every minute. The detail was amazing, the emotions spot on, and the ending! UGH. Fantastic.
Marcus S. Lazarus chapter 82 . 5/28/2016
Unique concept, I’ll give you that.
The idea of Jedi funding is one issue that I don’t recall any story actually addressing explicitly- I guess we always assumed that they had private reserves or some kind of really good stock plan- so your idea to make an entire story around the idea of the Sith attacking the Jedi financially was so subtle it was brilliant, made all the more engaging by how disturbingly easy it is for their enemies to make the Jedi almost irrelevant without anyone becoming aware of it.
Tharten seemed to be a bit too manipulative for a Jedi at first, but with the Sith involved and the precedent set by Palpatine’s manipulation of Anakin in canon, it’s hardly implausible to assume that he or another Sith has managed to infiltrate the Jedi in that manner, particularly as we learn more about the new rules of the Order and are treated to a tragic example of how even Obi-Wan Kenobi’s own Padawan puts loyalty to the Code above all (Obi-Wan might not have always approved of Qui-Gon defying the rules, but he appreciated how his master knew when to do the right thing rather than just obey orders).
The revelation that not only are at least half the modern council essentially Qui-Gon’s old ‘adversaries’- as much as Jedi would be permitted to consider someone an adversary- but that the Jedi have actually doctored their history to present Xanatos as a victim raises several questions about what’s going on, leading into a very dramatic revelation as we witness just how far Sidious/Palpatine’s influence into the new Jedi Council extends. However, at the same time, the abundance of OCs (I’m assuming the primary Council were OCs since I haven’t heard of them, but if they’re more obscure characters from the expanded universe than my basic point still stands) made it a bit harder to keep track of the story, as it was hard to follow everyones’ motives and agenda when I was just trying to make sure I knew who was who, such as establishing that Zaros was the Senate Representative rather than a member of the Order (And how was he able to get away with all that bling when the Senate’s meant to be making budget costs?)
Still, Palpatine remains as twisted as ever, scheming about how he intends to ‘force’ the creation of his new apprentice before his plans all fall apart in front of him, and the final confrontation and its aftermath were very dramatic, the villains demonstrating their traditional flaw of being unable to accept when they’ve lost as their enemies find the loopholes they overlooked (I appreciate that villains by definition won’t give up, but at the same time there has to be a limit to what any of Palpatine’s ‘allies’ could have done without him).
In the end, however, while the conclusion was satisfactory, I think it might have been worth doing an epilogue of some sort to confirm how things will unfold in the future; even with the Sith gone, it’s going to be difficult for the Jedi, the Bendu, and others to adapt to the way the galaxy’s shifted, to say nothing of the various personal issues Obi-Wan needs to face in his new role…
Ribke chapter 3 . 1/23/2016
Oh great, now I'm gonna have this image of Palps being a psycho who will kill you (or get you killed) and then use your hand as a sex toy... Which is particularly disturbing due to all the characters who have lost hands during his time O_O... Oh god, I didn't need that mental image Dx

lol, don't get the above comment wrong, I'm actually enjoying this story quite a lot :P
soaring freedom chapter 82 . 3/16/2015
This fic was amazing, i have to admit that when i first read the summary i was a bit skeptical - budget cuts? - but once i started to read the story I couldn't put it down.
It was lovely written and although it was long i truly enjoyed every moment i spent reading it, in fact i barely noticed that it was long at all because i was so entranced by reading this awesome fic. You also didn't go on unnecessary tangents - something that most writers do - instead i felt that the story was perfect and complete just the way it is.
I loved your OCs a lot especially Atel, i loved seeing the struggle within her, her dedication to her master waring with her obligation to the code and the order. she was very well written and had a definite personality she wasn't just something you added to help further the plot along or to play a role and then be discarded immediately.
he made the story more real somehow, and her death was one of the best deaths i have ever read, The fact that you kept bringing her up, that you made it obvious that she was on Obi-Wan's mind almost constantly, the way that small things remind us of her, the way you should other characters mourning her loss, these stuff made her death real, made it mean something.
i teared up every time her name was mentioned after her death.
I also loved Sle'fey as well, his personality wasn't a stereotype in any way, instead he seemed like a real person. I found him very intriguing and i loved the way he could be cunning and yet still honest at the same time.

The only thing i didn't like was the fact that Anakin didn't make much of an appearance, I noticed this especially when you didn't show the immediate results of his duel with Maul instead opting to make him lose conscience and we almost don't see him at all except at the end.

This fic was creative in many ways, i loved the whole Bendu concept by the way. You took a small idea an turned it into an amazing piece of art.

Can't wait to read more of you works coughwriteasequelcough and keep up the good work.

Gwenneth chapter 82 . 3/13/2012
I'm pretty sure I read this at least once before, but I so enjoyed one of your Merlin stories that I went on your profile and - what do you know - I got hooked again! And I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning, on a work day, to finish it! Never a dull moment, and not a single disappointing part to speak of! I'm sure you've heard it before, but you rock!
Hobbyist Writer chapter 82 . 1/31/2012
Wow. This is just awesome. That's just so like Qui-Gon. I can just see him thinking, "If I can't be a Jedi then I'll just make my own Order." Apparently you can take the Man out of the Jedi but you can't take the Jedi out of the Man.

This is defintely one of my favorites. Any chance for a sequel?
amba gurl chapter 82 . 12/26/2011

a pefectly balanced, futuristic story that if it were actually real, would be completely believable.
