Jeannegift chapter 1 . 8/29
As our little show is coming to an end, I find myself going back to authors I love and rereading or sometimes finding stories I missed. This was a wonderful little gem to find. The way you wrote the boys put me right back into this time period. You have such a way with just the right words to express such deep feelings and giving so much insight to the thoughts and reasonings of the characters, especially, Dean. He’s my favorite, too. Such a beautiful, complex man. Your writing does him so much justice.

I just finished listening to the song that this is based off of and you're right. It really does relate to Dean.
ImpalaLove chapter 1 . 6/11/2013
I love your writing style- very descriptive and it flows really well. That last line is perfection, and I love how you portray Dean's inner torment. Awesome job!

ccase13 chapter 1 . 7/4/2011
This is a marvelous picture of Dean and Sam in early season 3. I especially liked Dean's encounter with the redheaded woman. Even in an obvious one night stand, Dean is just not the type to be too exploitive. He would offer good service and a fair trade.

Sam's anger that season was so understanable to me but I could also see how it made Dean's very short last year harder. Thanks for writing for us.
Heartless BytchhakaHelenBach1 chapter 1 . 8/20/2010
There are some words that mean the world to us, and they can die inside for lack of light. Sometimes it's enough to just say them.

And sometimes you don't get the chance to say them.:(
pickamix chapter 1 . 3/9/2009
I really liked this one... each section made an impact on me... The emotions were always very clear and I felt Dean's desperation throughout all of it. Very well done.
amyblair chapter 1 . 11/3/2008
I reread it.

I think my most favorite part about this that I liked is the tango between the redhead and Dean. I love that you paint this scene with lust and sex and wanting, but it's laced with sadness and hurt and almost a hint of us being an intruder. You felt bad reading it, like you were seeing something you shouldn't, but you couldn't look away.

During their connection, lines that I liked -

'watching her through his lashes. He knew how fast to move, how slow to breathe. He knew how to give them what they needed so that he could get what he wanted.'

'...tasted dirt on the lips of the crossroad demon.' I really liked that because it reminds us of how dirty and bad she really was, no matter her outer beauty.

It's almost a ghostly feel you give in this when you use quotes from the show. Dean and Red are trying to get it on... and then a quote from Casey will float across and it hurts.

You also make us wonder about Red and what regular, heartbreaking, human emotions she is going through that has brought an empty feeling inside of her.

Sam and Dean that I liked -

I enjoyed one of the first statements upon Dean's return -

"You're such a bad liar, Sam," Dean shook his head, his lips twisted into a sad smile. "Just admit it - you saw that Ruby chick again." I liked this because it is also true NOW in their relationship. They are both holding back secrets, both keeping lies... but before when it was to protect the other, this time It's to protect themselves.

'John's death took away his balance. Sam's death destroyed him.' This is great because you give us such a peek at where Dean was, his desperation, his willing to do anything to save Sam... even in the end if it was more for himself than for his brother.

When they are fighting the demons and they have gone into the water, Dean is bringing Sam and the girl to surface and working on them... there is a point towards the end where he's performing CPR on both his brother and the way-too-gone girl. You repeat 'you were twisted and broken' and 'I'm not a bad person' throughout the encounters with each body. It is so effective for us during a time where Dean is already pushed beyond his limits to see that while he is saving, he is still pained. He is still feeling the hole in his heart and you do it with a subtle twist. Very nice.

Great job.

Sushi Chi chapter 1 . 7/16/2008
I liked this one. Well written.
DeansBabyBird chapter 1 . 6/16/2008
Amanda.

I think I’ve said this before and for some reason it made you laugh but I’m gonna say it again. You write sex (and Dean having sex) really well. It’s passionate and hot and utterly believable in its desperate need and release. This feels like a sad piece to me even to the last line where it somehow finds some hope which for a desperate optimist like me is reassuring. I read you chapter end notes and saw that perhaps it was written at a tough time for you? It reads like that and that matches very well to the Dean and Sam in this moment in time. As always it’s beautifully written with your elegant economy of words and depiction of emotions. Loved it. Bev xx
Rebel Goddess chapter 1 . 4/11/2008
The first section, the part that dealt with the redhead whose name we never learn, was the best part. I like the darkness, it worked, but I think the final fight scene was perhaps the weakest part. Good ideas though.
thevigilante15 chapter 1 . 3/29/2008
