Isanybodystilloutthere chapter 32 . 8/2 I started reading this story years and years ago when it was first being written and I was still so young and new to reading fanfiction. When I found this, I still had a deviant art profile, and i remember fan art of this fanfic in particular! I remembered this compelling storyline even over a decade later, and thought about it often. The characterization is impeccable, dialogue diverse and engaging, and the imagery is so vivid. It is just simply a joy to re-read this series. I am so elated to have it continued, and im so excited to see where this plot goes. I love this story, keep up the good work! You have real talent. Happy to have you back, missed you |
UnderwaterOphelia chapter 32 . 7/30 Okay so I only recently began reading this story when I saw it updated on the front page of ffnet. BUT WHERE DO I BEGIN?! The worldbuilding, the delicate tension always there in the background, the impending threat of Inuyasha having to take a bride or concubines... IT'S ALL PERFECT. I really REALLY look forward to reading more of this, and I hope you continue to update, because I am HOOKED. |
Glon Morski chapter 12 . 7/28 I'm loving this story. I mean, you definitely already knew that from my previous comments and from the fact that I told you'd I'd be rereading this, but it bears repeating. I love this story. It's gorgeous, beautiful, exceptionally well-written ad all around just a delicious thing to gobble up. The only reason I'm able to put it down every night is that my throat probably wouldn't agree with me if I tried to read more than one or two chapters a night LMAO (As I told you before, I'm doing a sort of real-time-podfic session for friends of this, so I read out oud for them.) If there's any grievance to be had in this bit of masterful story-telling, I can't really find anything too glaring. But there is one detail that springs up at me every now an again and reminds me of its existence. It's not big or anything, and I can overlook it most of the time, but I think it might be best to let you know so you can either edit it a bit (if you have the time, energy andwill to, of course), or that you pay it a bit more mind in your future works. That detail is referencing the time-line. Here's the thing: these past nine or ten chapters (I'm not counting the first two-to-three, since those were in Kagome's village and on the way to the capital) a lot has happened. Kagome has formed strong bonds with Sango (and Miroku, though she started with him on the way to the capitlal already), he has gained Kikyo's respect and InuYasha's trust, her and InuYasha are slowly starting to fall for each other, she has gained the support of Midoriko and she has moved from 'random village girl who shouldn't be here' to the 'Tenno's left hand', being practically elevated to noble status as far as I understand. For all of this to happen in a believable manner, a lot of time needs to pass, at least several months (blindly, I'd be tipping at close to half a year already). And the narrative, though staying vague most of the times, seems to imply as much, for instance whenever Kagome thinks that she hasn't seen Sango and Miroku in 'such a long time' and things like that. But then come other moments that seem to imply the opposite. Most notably, the whole deal with the new moon. It's openly stated that Kagome meets 'Toga' for the second time. So it's the second new moon they meet. During their first meeting, however, they promised to meet 'the next new moon'... which would imply only about a month passed between the two meetings, as there's no indication in the narrative (or dialogue) anywhere that more new moons have passed in between when they haven't managed to meet. That, however, plainly doesn't make sense. Not only because everything I listed above seems impossible to happen within the span of a month (particularly the developpments in character relationships, because those really need time no matter what else may be going on). Besides which, there are rare detailed accounts of the passage of time in the fic. There was the week Kagome was ostracized because of the rumors and the week she was in isolation after her vision stunt. That's already two. Then there was her trip to Kikyo's lands to take care of the youkai nest way in the beginning, which went haywire. Add about another week for the entirety of it and we arrive at three. Which would leave about a week, maybe a week and a half (because the moon doesn't follow our human calendar that closely, obviously LMAO) for everything else. As I said, not really feasable. Which makes the time-line of the fic rather confusing more often than not. It's not a big issue, I personally can handwave it away most of the time because, ultimately, it's not that important a detail for this story (though it might be more important in others). Still, I thought I'd point it out so you were aware, especially since I'm not sure if I have mentioned it the first time I read this fic. (But probably not, as I would have either not dared, or not thought as much about it as I admittedly do now that I'm a more mature writer myself LOL) Other than that, though, there's absolutely nothing in this fic that I could possibly dislike. It is a masterpiece and I thank you from the bottom of my eart for sharing it with us and, more importantly, for picking it up again after all these years. I enjoyed the read the fist time already, but now I'm loving it even more :3 The story (and story-telling) is just that good Sincerely, Glon Morski |
Kazoro chapter 32 . 7/25 I revived an email a few days ago that this fic was updated and have done practically nothing else besides read this again. Thoroughly enjoyed my second time reading this through! having recently re-read a few fics during quarantine I can confidently say this is the most well-written fic I’ve ever come across. I am beyond thrilled you’ve continued with this story and I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter! |
MoonstoneMoodring chapter 31 . 7/24 I hope your return to this story has been filled with nothing but warm welcomes, encouragement, and support from all of us who have been blessed with your talent for so many years! So excited to jump on this adventure again! XOXO |
zelico chapter 32 . 7/23 So I’m a relatively new follower. It took me a few weeks to read this story (I took a few breaks), and now that I’m done with the most recent chapter, I’m a little sad I’m up to date and have to wait now haha. But I know each update will be sooo worth the waits in between. I can’t believe you’ve invested so much time, effort and energy into creating a professional level work (IMO it surpasses many published works) for us to enjoy for free! Thank you! Also, I hope you’re blessed and doing well in these crazy times! |
see03 chapter 32 . 7/23 Yes! So much plot progress in this chapter :) My heart hurts for Inuyasha everytime he clearly wants to tell Kagome he loves her but can't muster up the courage to do it! I feel he wants to marry her, but she's so insistent on their class division, and he's willing to take what he can until he can figure out how to convince her otherwise :( |
cristine44 chapter 32 . 7/22 I have finally reread the entire thing and caught up. Amazing chapter as always EnB! |
lala1224 chapter 10 . 7/22 I stumbled across this story and it’s amazing ( in quarantine I finally got around to watching Inuyasha- late to game, I know. ) and this is absolutely AMAZING. I couldn’t stop reading the first 10 chapters! Sorry I am just getting around to reviewing, but wow! |
Glon Morski chapter 4 . 7/21 Well, I promsed you'd hear from me when I got around to re-reading your story and here I am,starting once again from the start. Good thing, too, because I really feel like I'm reading something I've never read before most of the time, at least in the sense of not remembering what went on all that well. My only real memories are from chapters lose to where the story originally stopped at, but without most of what came before it, I deemed it better to just reread the entire thing. So far, I don't regret it at all, it only reminds me how much I loved it the first time. InuYasha's floundering to hide that 1) he's already met Kagome when she's being formally introduced to him and 2) he's the fucking *EMPEROR* and yet he goes galavating on a miko's extermination errand as a guard is utterly hilarious. He's not subtle at all and in all honesty, I'm a bit surprised Sango or Miroku, at the very least, didn't catch on. Especially with the repeated 'We/I' problem and the way Kikyo confronted him when they were leaving. And Koga. Gods, Koga. I don't remember if he has much of a role in this story past this mini-arc (I don't think so, but I may be wrong), but I'm kind of hoping he does or that he shows up again every now and then at a later time because he's utterly hilarious and I love your characterization of him. Seriously, the number of tmes I neary had to stop reading because I was about to crack up is unreal. (I mean that in a literal sense. I'm sharing your story and gathering new fans for it by reading it aloud on a discord server and a couple times I had to take a break because the urge to laugh was just too great XD Oh, but of course, I always link it and credit that it's not mine, no worries. No copyright infringment here, only reading sessions LOL) Wondeful story. I'm enjoying it immensely just as I did the first time, if not even more so. I can barely wait to read more. (Alas, time and my throat forced me to end the reading today after two chapters, but I'll read the next two tomorrow, so expect another reivew then, probably ) Truly, this is a masterpiece of a fic and I look forward to seeing it unfold (and finish) a second time. Thank you very much for writing it and, even more so, for picking it up again :3 Sincerely, Glon Morski |
jessiejps chapter 1 . 7/21 Yaaay ! I’ve missed reading this |
heartrush chapter 32 . 7/19 ahhh yay! thank you for another update so soon! I was entirely too excited for your return the last chapter to anticipate what would occur in this chapter, but let's just start with the fact that I loved it! your characterization as always is spot on-especially the scenes with Koga and Kagura. watching inukag dance around their dynamic is also a treat; I swooned when Inuyasha declared he was ready to carve his own path with Kagome. thanks again, excited for what's next! |
Ki Ai Sky chapter 32 . 7/18 I, like so many others, am thrilled that you’ve returned to this story! It just so happened that I was in the beginning of my annual re-read when you posted chapter 31. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I got the notification for the new chapter! And then so quickly after, another notification for this chapter! This is a beautiful, complex tale you’ve written, and I am eager to see where this goes. I had a lot of concerns that Kagome and Inuyasha wouldn’t find a way since his feelings have yet to be revealed. I am curious for the next new moon! Will Inuyasha’s secret be revealed? Thank you for the new chapters, can’t wait for the next one! |
ushmie chapter 32 . 7/18 It’s so wonderful to be able sink right back into this world. I can imagine everything in my mind with such richness, even if you haven’t necessarily spelled it out. Love it. Everything is going so well right now for our favorite couple... I wonder when the rubber band will snap back. |
delinquent chapter 32 . 7/18 Been following this story since about 2008, when I first discovered fanfics. I've reread it at least 10 times, and I’m so excited to see it come back to life. It’s probably in the top 5 best fits I’ve read over the last 12 years. Many thanks for all the energy and care you put into this work and for sharing so freely. |
