This is the second time I've read this story and I really feel the need to comment. It really was an emotional ride and it showed a vulnerable John Sheppard, something we rarely saw in the show. I know you wrote this years ago, but I've really enjoyed it.

Great story...glad the bullies received the just desserts...

One thing here I find significant, most apple pie recipes include lemon.

A follow up story with Joe coming to Atlantis would have been cool. Although this story would be an AU it's still a good and heartwarming story.

Really good story for having to guess what John's father was like and not knowing if he had a brother. Too bad he's family history didn't end this way, this is a kinder more gentle father then the tycoon he really had. However I liked how you played out the story and brought everyone in, but I had hoped as I read it that they would have let Joe accompany John to Atlantis, just to see it for himself and just gone back on the Daedelus when she returned home a few days later. Would have been interesting to see if Atlantis reached out to him as well, being that they were blood related. That she reaches out to John and not Jack is understandable since Jack is a lesser Gene holder but because Joe is blood related, it could have made for an interesting twist of events.

Wow! This story was awesome. I am a huge fan of Sheppard whump and man you didn't disappoint. I love your version of John's dad and how they finally managed to mend their broken relationship. So well written, and I enjoyed every single chapter. Thank you!

When John was attacked why wasn't there something in the paper like "INJURED AIR FORCE LT. COLONEL BEATEN HALF TO DEATH BY DELINQUENTS IN SUBURB BREAK IN"

The SGC would never authorize telling even a family member of even the key member of the Atlantis expedition. In reality, those with non disclosure agreements with the US government have serious relationship issues with their families if they work with classified materials for any sort of time 5 five years.

Extremely well written though.
