It was the ascension. I'm almost 100 percent sure of it. Seasons 1 through 5 feature the old Daniel Jackson and seasons 7 through 10 feature the new Daniel Jackson. It HAD to have been the ascension.

Aw! The world does need more Daniel Jacksons... I suppose dying multiple times and facing pure evil would change him. At least he was allowed to have a gun!

Thank you! I have missed the Daniel Jackson that kept SG-1 grounded. The gun-slinging warrior of seasons 9 & 10 that he has become is a bit of a travesty. Perhaps the writers have chosen to portray him that way because RDA is no longer around to keep the character true to himself. Bravo for noticing and writing about it so well!

That sounds like Jack. I like Daniel as the tough guy though. Maybe not as another Jack, but I like the way he handles himself now as compared to the original Stargate movie. There's still a bit of his old self in there, but he's seen too much to not change a bit. Very nice story. I love how you said all of that in about half the words.
