Read this one go and my brain is still buzzing with the aftereffects! I've never read nything like this and boy howdy let me tell you, it was fan-fucking-tastic!

Oh boy, this is really great. I've been checking out Naruto fanfics lately (reminiscing is nice, especially when it's about childhood anime) and I found this gem-

Nishi is sweet, I like her. I'm certain she'll be Neji's favourite student and I also think he'll grow fond of Minami and Tachi once they warm up to him.

I love Takon, he's cool, I like him. But I don't understand why Takon cut the wire when Neji said he was 18. (He's 16 right?) Neji is smarter than me if I were him I would've probably told them my real age since I would never think about lying about my age

Neji does not use the talk no jutsu this is an unique character! Even Rock Lee uses the talk no jutsu!

SHE KILLED THE HAWK?! She's so going to pay! Just you wait! When I get my hands on her she'll be beginning to get killed! I'll drag her through the flames of hell and back! She'll suffer the most painful of tortures imaginable!

I originally read this story years ago while the author was actively posting new chapters. Life gets in the way of our hobbies and brain projects sometimes and it would seem love that's what happened here. I have always wondered what happened and I'm glad I thought to check for the last chapters. This was easily my favorite fan fiction I have ever read.

Riversrunthroughme has beautifully captured each character. They all feel grisly and real with real emotions and reactions and things to say. How I wish the original series had this type of character complexity. Neji has a special place in my heart, even more so after this alternative event during the timeskip. I love the inner turmoil within Neji and you have wonderfully exploited that here. The character conflict, thought process, TORTURE and and resulting feelings were fantastically executed and so much fun to read. Obviously enough that I never forgot this story even after this long!

I don't know why I loved reading about Neji being tortured this way but I couldn't get enough. The details (think brain fluid on your tongue) were thrilling!

In truth, I felt the last chapter ended a little too easily. I always would have loved to see him escape somehow, curse seal being gone. The one on his shoulder should be gone, too. Of course, too much has happened to this poor ninja that things could never go back to the way they were, too much self reflection amidst the horrors he experienced to reconcile with everyone or be at peace living with his family. No one could understand. So I'm satisfied! He is finally free! Love this! (If you ever get a wild hair to write more, I will periodically check back in to find it!)

Well, this seems intriguing! Your writing in this Chapter (&, I' guessing, mos likely the other ones too) is high quality an' did a great job catching my interest. But a part of me is a bit scared to find out what'll happen to poor Neji... *shudder as remembers Orochimaru, then smirks in anticipation* Aaand the rest of me is too curious about it to care. Reading time!

Holy crap, this is amazing. I am so happy that I stumbled onto this. Neji is one of my favorite characters and while I love "Naruto", the series has serious plot holes. Thank god for fanfic writers like you.

And you have have a gift cliffhangers and world building. Like, the way you write about the origin story of the Hyuga branch curse seal; Not giving us(the audience) much because this information so the characters don't feel the need to repeat. That is brilliant writing.

And Shisui! And Yuuki! Oh man, I read your Team Gai story and just wrote her off as selfish bitch for abandoning Neji but then I read chapter 13 (which is my favorite chapter, BTW. The little vignette style worked really well.) and I cringed because I had let my inner misogynist dismiss her like that. Poor Yuuki. But her relationship with Shisui was so cute. I can see her bringing little Neji to the Uchiha compound before Hizashi died and letting him run wild with Shisui and Shisui just spoiling the little guy. The way you write Shisui is fascinating and I wish we could get more of him but oh well.

Even if this story is incomplete I love it and can't thank you enough for writing it. I kinda wish I I knew how this was going toe nd. Or, the origin of the Branch Curse Seal and what happened between the Hyuga and the those Wind Clans. And What Itachi had planned (Also, another really complex character from canon that lot of authors mess up but is written perfectly here).
