You know, it's somewhat disheartening to see something, as good as this, with so little love for it. Maybe because it's not some childish dribble filled with sex and other depravities in which to titillate the masses and lull them into complacency.

It's more likely I'm just grumpy that this might never be finish and taking it out on others that may, or may not, deserve it.

I am not sure that Lily would have forgiven Severus so quickly... but it's a nice thought that maybe she could have.

For where I think this is going... I think Remus is either heading to Sirius to kill him or to the shack to kill himself. Maybe not actually kill Sirius but at least duel him. Maybe he is just going to seek out Severus and beg forgiveness, but I truly don't believe this option... even if feels better to think it. So, from your story, I take it that only the birth of Harry brought Remus and Sirius back together in friendship.

Everything is going pear-shaped. I don't see it ending well for anyone, if it ends at all.

I re-read most of this, and I was reminded of why I fangirled your writing during my young, impressionable stage (listen to me, trying to sound more grown-up than I actually am). Your descriptions are right to the point - sparse but effective. It sounds kind of like a cliche, I guess, but I love that you say so much in so few words.

For old times sake, my favourite description: "Tripping on shadows she cries over spilt milk." See above for what I enjoyed about it the most.

There are some fanfic writers whose vision is so much stronger and better than JK's that, even though I hold the writing of derivative fiction to be as fine and worthy as original fiction, I wonder that they confine themselves to playing in her poorly-designed world. (She is a set decorator at heart, not an architect.) You are definitely one of them.
