Reviews for Only Magic
Aoife Miranda chapter 1 . 11/25/2010
I'm just sitting here, wondering why this fic doesn't have any reviews. I'm astounded that it doesn't, because it's really *that* beautiful.

You have a way with imagery that pulls the reader into your story, making him or her feel as though they're actually apart of it. I absolutely *loved* reading about Amy sitting at the fountain and being able to visualize it myself. If you can make something like water seem real to a reader, then it's safe to say that you've really set a high standard in your writing, especially since imagery is a tricky pool of water to tread. Too often, fic writers insert too much imagery into their fic, not leaving enough to the reader's imagination. However, your descriptions are still beautiful, and still allow for the reader to use his or her imagination. It's really amazing. To me, reading the vivid descriptions in this fic is what makes it for me, but I also do love Amy's inner struggle of pragmatic, rational scientist vs. someone who has magical powers to control water and ice... to make even the seemingly impossible, possible. I think Amy's struggle is really similar to what a lot of pragmatists/rationalists go through if/when they ever figure out there's something more out there. Being a philosophy minor, I really liked that, since so much of the subject is infused with logic and doesn't often allow for the divine command theory to come into play.

Thank you for writing this! It was really a nice read. :)
