This was a fun read! I'd never considered the behind-the-scenes competition and relationships in the teachers lounge. I liked that Peeves was seranading Snape at the end.

Beautifully-written and perfectly in-character; you catch the tone of the first book very well. Love the "impressive billow of robes," Snape's carefully-calibrated pauses, McG's POV.

The two sections parallel each other nicely in structure, but the ending seems rather abrupt - more like one of Snape's pause's than an actual end. But this is a minor point; overall, I really like this story. Excellent job.
