Guest chapter 1 . 12/26/2017 great piece |
jamester56 chapter 1 . 7/26/2014 I don't know who I pity the most, here- Hermione, for feeling the need to Obliviate her parents to protect them, or her parents, for being betrayed by their daughter (it was a betrayal, for all her good intentions). |
pinks99 chapter 1 . 6/20/2014 Excellent short story! I like how you explore the Grangers' love of their daughter, given how the Grangers were given woefully little attention in the books. I agree with other reviewers that it ends in just the right place. You should consider changing the status to complete so more people read it. |
igeisha chapter 1 . 1/13/2014 hm. obliviate? |
Songs of Angry Jelly Babies chapter 1 . 10/24/2013 This is beautiful. I love the exploration of the mindset and morality behind Hermione's act, as well as the relationship between parents and daughter and how it continues to be affected Hermione's role in the wizarding world. In post-DH fics, a lot of times the implications of Hermione wiping her parents' memories and the after-math are just swept under the rug, and even when it's addressed Hermione always seems to come off as the self-sacrificial war hero who can do no wrong. This fic felt like a much-needed breath of fresh air, as it addresses the issue head-on, and neither glorifies her nor bashes her completely for her action. Anyway, bravo, well done! |
Outasync chapter 1 . 10/20/2013 Wow. This is beautiful, and it ends in exactly the right place. All the terrible things that Hermione does, and is going on to do, because of love. |
Terahlyanwe chapter 1 . 8/1/2013 No shiiiiit Hermione should have been reading some works on ethics and morality! good grief. This is brilliantly well written and outlined neatly one of the biggest reasons Hermione grates on my nerves. |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/13/2013 This story should have more reviews! So I leave you one. I don't know what to say except that the story was very interesting. I always like to read stories that explain Hermione's reasoning for memory charming her parents. Such an extreme and dangerous thing to do! |
unserendipitous chapter 1 . 7/9/2013 I love this exploration of Hermione's morality. As much as I love stories in which Hermione runs this memory-charm plan by her parents, I can too easily see her just doing as she thinks is best. For all her striving against anti-Muggleborn prejudice, she may have internalized some kind of paternalistic feeling towards her parents/Muggles - akin to how gay men and women demonstrate homophobia or people of color can make racist assumptions. Of course, that's only one interpretation, and not necessarily the one you've proposed here, but it is an interesting nuance. Well done! |
arynwy chapter 1 . 6/30/2013 This is wonderfully done. Hermione's more than wobbly moral compass has always been a mostly overlooked topic . You have addressed this perfectly - it reads as the perfect cautionary tale and it's chilling because everything she does is based upon her understanding of love, protectiveness and loyalty - everything she learned from the time spent with her parents. |
princess-oro chapter 1 . 5/4/2013 This is so unbearably sad. I didn't quite appreciate how Rowling glossed over Hermione's incident of Obliviating her parents because that is certainly not an easy decision to make. So thank you for writing this insightful and heartbreakingly beautiful oneshot. |
FeelingUntouched chapter 1 . 2/5/2013 great one. thanks. |
ComicalEpiphanies chapter 1 . 12/11/2012 Wow. Holy cow. Best look into Hermione's past and reasonings I've seen in a very long time. Great work. |
Craftsman chapter 1 . 11/24/2012 That was amazing. I think that you pulled all the essentials of Hermione's character together quite well. Great descriptions and realistic emotions. Well done and thank you for sharing. |
RedCaprice chapter 1 . 10/23/2012 That was good! I seriously have chills! |
