Thank you - we weren't told much of what happened to Winky, other than that she was so traumatised by being sacked from her job that she became an alcoholic - and then her life would have been even further screwed up by Dobby's death. I'm glad you're able to offer hope for her, as well as for Snape.

This is really beautifully written-thank you! I run across few really fine Snape fics, so it is a particular pleasure to discover this. Many lovely turns of phrase (and these are just a few examples): the bit about Lily's laughter "dancing" in Snape's ears, "all of them gone through to the other side of death to forge a path for Harry"; "the impossible, dreadful masquerade that he had danced for all that he had left to love."
