Tail hair of a Thestral is the core of the Elder Wand. Their reaction to Dumbledore was rather strange. Harry might have assumed he was dead or confronted with an imposter before asking for proof of his identity. Neville saying "It's the same day we came from" implies that he believes they have travelled somewhere, somehow, but there's no reason to believe that at all. They would never jump first to the idea of dimension travelling or time travelling. They would suspect every other possibility first, such as a dream, the effects of a spell, a bad prank, an imposter, etc. Harry just blurts out asking about Dumbledore's favourite jam, as if he believes that the right answer would prove that Dumbledore's really in front of him, when he knows for a fact that he's dead. So I would suggest changing that entire part. Although, I'm really not fond of the whole secretly evil and self-serving Dumbledore. It's overdone, badly done, and ridiculous. It's much better when Dumbledore is portrayed as ultimately good, but misguided.

Great story! Best dimension-travelling fic I've read in a while. Usually I don't like too much details and world-building in fanfiction, but this fic pulls it off spectacularly and I can't seem to stop reading. The amount of things you get wrong in the first two chapters is painful. The hair in the elder wand is thestral, hence death. Any other thing, especially pheonix feather, wouldn’t fit the whole death thing. This has been said by J.K.

Merlin was born after the founders, in fact, he was a Slytherin. So no, the people you have spoken about couldn’t be the original versions of the founders, because the founders were born first.

I liked the reveal, it helps establish a small crack into how Harry can save his counterpart.
