I enjoyed your own rendition of Dei's first meeting with Kisame / Itachi / Sasori. As well as all the inherent humor snippets, whether intentional or not, here and there:

"Limbs, limbs, limbs… the occasional torso."

"I had no desire to be rendered null in the middle of battle." (Hahaha, but they always do!)

"One time, after I had planted a low-grade explosive at the bottom of a small pool, several massive fish had been blown clear out of the water. Ryota had been absolutely charmed. Positively tickled."

"I notice many different things, Ryota. The seasons are changing, the arms are running out, and why haven’t you brought me any fresh eggs?"

"It had a head like a man, albeit with a very unfortunate choice in hairstyle."

"The fish man held his silence. His gaunt features were slack with confusion." (You made Kisame seem so... snuggable, for some reason.)

And the descriptions of Itachi... How I'm so much in awe of them...

"The waning sun was at his shoulder, and it spilled past him, reflecting dull, sanguine tinges onto the halos of the effigies. Those scarlet orbs smoldered in the gloom, and I realized that the nimbuses on either side of him… by kami… they were also his eyes? They were… beautiful! The most powerful, moving thing that I’d ever seen! The presentation was spectacular!"

Ah, I really love all your unique vivid descriptions of explosions and Deidara's feelings:

"The ecstasy burst forth in waves of relieved and maniacal hilarity."

"Red. The explosion had taken on the most impossible tint of scarlet to it. It seemed to last forever, this adrenaline-fueled fire. The ‘bang’ was so glorious… so bright."

"The resulting BANG seemed to shake the very particles of oxygen around us. Bright and beautiful light spilled from behind us. Growing and glowing…"

It also just occurred to me how much you're delving into Deidara's mindset. He's the main character, yet we know he's considered to be a villain of Naruto-thus, Dei is the anti-hero of your story! (Okay, what.. I just did a blunt literary analysis. XD) Usually one would try to side with the "good" and reason that the "bad" is wrong, but it's so hard when Dei is the main character and you're writing all his thoughts with such vigor and intensity.

All my blabbering aside, FANTASTIC work as usual. I love it. AKATSUKI NEXT CHAPTER! Will read immediately.

I don't how what to say - that was pure awesomeness! . Their characterization was perfect, and I like how you included the scene from the manga. I like "nice" Kisame - that's how I try to write him, too :) And I see Sasori already thinks he's a brat.

Ah I'm not in the mood to read all of it... writing calls to me ;) anyways, it's the same as ever from you. Big words, nice grammar lovely story. I just know so little that's related to Naruto it makes it really hard to read. I know the basics but at the Shippuden? part I know nothing about it... I regret that because then I would know all the characters... er... do you make a lot of invented ones, perhaps?
