hey. interesting fic. i don't know if anyone wrote to you yet but... the ending is that will lives as captain of the dutchman forever as long as no one stabs his heart and he can come to shore every ten years which is what is shows after the credits in the movie.

UH, by now, you probably know what happened, but i'll explain anyway, just because.

Yeah, Will became Captain of the Flying Dutchman because technically he stabbed Davy Jones' heart. Elizabeth couldn't stay on board and the last day they spent together on the beach (which was in the part before the credits) and then Ten years later (since Will can only come ashore every ten years) and Elizabeth was standing on shore with a child standing next to her.

And what is the legend of the Flying Dutchman, I'm curious.

Oh, and btw, once the 10 years is over, Will is able to spent the rest of his life with his wife and son. idk if he's immortal, though.

i think will is supposed yo live forever...or at least till he has his heart stabbed...anyway, good story

After the ten years, Will is free of his attachment to the ship. He can return to Elizabeth and his Son forever! YAY!

It said that if Elizabeth remained faithful for 10 years then Will would be free of the curse. He could be human again. So after 10 years of faithfulness, Elizabeth, Will and their son could never be seperated. Hope that helps.

ilike what you have done with this. so, you want to know about the whole ten years thing? well, after the 10 years are up, and if elizabeth has been faithfull to will, then the curse will be broken, and he will never have to board the dutcman ever again. this information comes from the movies writers, who went on to say that a scene explaining this was cut from the movei because it was too long, so there you go. good fic.

about the ten years thing:

at first i heard that will had to sail the flying dutch for eternity and only gets to come on land for 24 hours every 10 years BUT then i heard that after his first ten years at sea when he comes back for that day if elizabeth is there waiting for him then the curse is lifted and he is human again.

Calypso originally only wanted Davy Jones to serve his term for 10 years. When he came back to her after 10 years, she wasn't there and had cheated on him- making him tellthe Brethren court to embody her. Anyway, because Elizabeth remained faithful and waited for Will, Will was freed from his imortality. This was to be explained in a backstory that was removed. Wow, this is really good! Actually, on the Dutchman/Will curse-thing, I've heard that he will live forever, but then some people (like SoftStuff) are saying that after 10 years, if Will does hi job well and Elizabeth is faithful, he is done.

It shows a young boy singing 'A Pirate's Life For Me' and he runs to the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean. We see Elizabeth follow him and put her arm around his shoulder, as the camera is on her face, a green flash occurs and Elizabeth smiles. Then we see Will on the mast of the Dutchman, looking out to the cliff, smiling. The camera zooms out showing Liz and Will Jr.'s looking out to the Dutchman.

I think the deal with the 10 years thing is that Will is stuck as captain of the Flying Dutchman forever, or until someone else comes along and stabs his heart (and then he'd die). He's allowed to go on land every 10 years for one day. (I read the other review, but I don't think that it's quite right-I saw it twice and I think I figured everything out...)

I don't know if you heard what the last clip was, but I'll write it anyways... The clip at the end was titled '10 years later' and shows Elizabeth with what is presumably her and Will's son looking towards the horizon, they see a green flash, and the last shot is of Will on the Flying Dutchman looking towards the cliff where Elizabeth and the little boy are at.

after ten years, will's service is over because elizabeth waited for him... i think davy jones had to remain captain because calypso didn't come.

I've only seen it once but the impresion I got was that he was captian for eternity but Elizabeth could join him eventualy.

I stayed for the extra scene but my friend decided to start talking over it (after not talking while we sat through the credits for like 15 min.) and I missed part of it while telling him to shut up.

The official name of Elizabeth and Will's child is...William...just like his father and Grandfather before him. -_- Very original isn't it? Or at least that's what I've heard.
