I always did somehow find it sad that the kraken was put to death in the third movie (or technically, before the third, after the second...) We can tell Jones was affected by it, from the expression on his face when Cutler Beckett mentioned the krakens' death to him.

Really amazing. Probably one of the best fics I've read around here. I always felt awfully for Jones when he was forced to slay the Kraken, and you perfectly conveyed his emotions here. It's great to see another side of both Jones and even the Kraken. Excellent job.

This was great! Captured the emotions of the event very well, and even the way he killed 'her' was true to the character's abilities.

And a reply to the review that said the Kraken was beached...where do dead fish and even dead whales end up after they float to the surface? They wash up on the beaches...

I did feel bad for the kraken and I didn't understand why he was ordered to kill it. It would have been the ultimate weapon...

But thats not how it was killed. It was beached.

Anyways, good story. I can see why it would be the only thing Davy Jone's cared for, not that I have any pity left for him after what he did to Will. And only because he was in love...

I've read a lot of stuff concerning the Kraken's relationship with its master, but this one has got to be the best. Beautifully written, and with just enough angst to make your eyes water. The bit where the Kraken offers a fish to Davy was so tender and sweet... reminds me of the time when my cat dragged a dead mouse into my bed, except better. And less smelly. .

I am not ashamed to admit that I got a little choked up. Amazing story, perfectly written. Now I feel sad all over again.

I hadn't fully grasped the reality of that, of Davy Jones having to kill the Kraken, but I can't help but feel sorry for him. The Kraken wasn't a gentle beast by far, but it was the only thing Davy had.
