awe, this is my favourite one yet. Little Jack is just so cute. "and tomorrow, first thing, we're going to play hockey." Just too adorable!

Loved the story!

This one's really sweet. I liked it a lot! I like how you still have Jack being the quiet, scared little kid that's just beginning to open up. Bobby was great too! There isn't anything that I don't like about this story. I love how you compare Jack to a brick wall, and then have him saying that he would probably like hockey because Bobby does. Another great story!

I recall reading the part you sent me to preview, but man, it's even better now that you've finished it. I couldn't wait for you to post this, and now that you have, I adore it!

This provided a really pitifully cute mental image: "The young boy whipped around and Bobby was surprised to see how fast he could move into a defensive position; Jack’s legs were in the seat, shielding his arms which were close to his chest, able to defend either his head or his ribs if necessary. His blue eyes could just barely be seen over the top of his jeans."

And I'm with Shan here: the blue-jeans analogy was really effective.

“All I’m saying is…don’t walk behind me like that. Okay? You’re my brother, just walk next to me. Or in front of me. I’m there to back you up. You’re not my slave, even if I boss you around, and you’re not my dog, even if I like to rub your hair.” - That's a really great way of putting it. Bobby knows Jack's worth, even if he teases him and acts like he doesn't care. They're brothers, and they're equals.

"Just when you had gotten used to talking to a brick wall, the brick wall started talking back." - I liked this. It's an interesting little phrase...I might just have to steal it sometime. ;)

“Will you teach me to play hockey?”

Bobby almost took out the mailbox in front of their house. - I can just see that. I'd be startled too. How cute of Jack to just chime in all of a sudden with such a darling little inquiry.

Well, I see someone's been busy, despite feeling a bit under the weather ;) Oh, Whilom, this was absolutely loveable! So cute, yet still so incredibly in character for both Jack and Bobby! I can see Jack being surprisingly good at DDR.

But where to start? I loved it all! Like Shanobi already said, the analogies with the blue jeans and brick wall talking back are classic! I also loved when Bobby tells Jack that's he's not his slave, even if he bosses him around, and not his dog, even if he likes to rub his hair D That was so cute!

Perfect portrayal of Bobby being kinda gruff but still a caring older brother. And now I can't wait to go look at this other cooking one - should be good!

Great job! Wonderful interaction and dialogue. Loved reading Bobby's thought process and his analogy of Jack and the blue jeans was great - very fitting. I also like how he seems to understand Jack and where he is coming from. This line was nice, too:

It's nice that Jack can surprise Bobby still. Your characterization at the end was perfect. Very enjoyable, Whilom.
