I know somebody probably already said all this, but here goes: "Dies Irae, Dies Illa" comes from a medieval Latin poem/hymn about Judgement Day. This phrase means, "Day of wrath, day of mourning." "Kyrie eleison" is Greek for "Lord, have mercy." They are used in Requiems, songs for the dead. Yitgadal V’Yitkadash is part of the Kaddish, the Jewish prayer for the dead. |
