The emotional anguish/terror really comes across. And I have wondered what it would be like to have wings, but I would want feathers also not batwings. The only thing I wished to know is what happened to the monsters that did this to him? Can we introduce them to that Wraith Cerberus you created?

Nice fairy tale (Can I call it that?) Very unusual, I love!

I know you mentioned that the wings were bat wings, but I couldn't help picture the wings from that dude from X-men, I can't remember his name. Anyway, his wings have white feathers and are quite stunning.

When I started this story, I have to confess I found it kind of trippy, in a "OMG I used to dream I had wings" kind of way. Bittersweet, but otherwise really good, as usual. Plenty of giggle-moments. I think my favorite (past the initial whump, of course) was when John said a girl compared him to an elf. I, personally, always thought that too. Pointy ears and all.

I've always had a fascination with wings and flying and this story really struck a cord. John's reactions, Rodney's motivation, and the team pitching in to help John accept what was done to him was very, very well done. And the ending damn near broke my heart.
