Heartbreaking, but wonderful

I first read this last year, and I keep remembering it. It's still a writing inspiration, how much the characters changed over the years while still staying believably true to themselves. Believable-that's the big point. Even though the years brought such unimaginable changes, the story was completely believable-much more than most happy endings.

I like the concept very much, and as always your writing is beautiful :)

"untameable as the sea..." loved it!

specially the last lines: Only so very much, he thinks, only enough to break his heart, only enough to be all his joy in the world. "Only the best of her," he says; and waits to see her smile.

I've had this sitting in my inbox to be read for ages. I'm glad I saved it, it was lovely. And I honestly thought it was Jack at the door. You fooled me completely!

That was so beautiful yet so heartbreaking. It was a very interesting read as where all the characters ended up is quite original. My favorite line would have to be:

"Because I'm not like Jack," she says. "Not that way. I never wanted to live forever." Elizabeth meets Will's eyes, speaking to him now, softly. "I only wanted to live."

Very sad but excellent to read!

Well, firstly, I thought it was Jack at the door lol. I suspect that was very cleverly done, intentional deception...

I loved it, really. The only thing I liked more is her new name.

oh my, beautifully done! in the beginning jenny sounded like a much younger child, i was surprised to read she was 16 in the end. but the rest was fantastic. masterful angst!
