I haven't read Thief Lord fanfictions for a long time and it's been such a long time since I read your fanfic. I've forgotten almost everything about it. Now that I have read it again, I must say that for me it's really one of the best Thief Lord fanfictions on this side (maybe even the best).
Although in my view your characters are not really close to the original anymore, they remain highly recognizable (you developed them a lot, but they are still the original characters) and you made them all lovable and reasonable. Obviously Scipio and Prosper are your favourite characters and the main characters in your story, but you also take care of the others and make sure to give them some scenes as well with insight into their mind. You also manage to write the grown-up very well and interesting. (Some years ago, I have probably not been interested in your adults, but now that I have become older I really love to read about them as well.) All your characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional. Although Scipio and Prosper are sometimes a bit too perfect to my taste (and even a bit too close), but that's fine. After all, the story is meant for pleasure.
Your plot twists are just great and you include a lot of romance and friendship as well as parents-children-conflicts and adventure. That's an amazing mixture! And sometimes it's just hilarious: all these parents being wrong about the actual relationship of their child, but all assuming something else. (I must admit, though, I pity Ida, because she is the only adult who is really completely nice to her child and I don't think it's fair of Mona to deceive her as she does. That doesn't really fit Mona's character as I perceive it.) It's so funny, every now and then unexpected and really interesting to read.
I also like your writing style a lot: again a good balance between dialogue and description of inner feelings and thoughts or of what is happening.
I believe you probably won't finish this story after such a long pause and I understand that well. It's difficult to come back to such a story when you yourself have moved on. But just in case you ever consider doing it or maybe you have already written several chapters more in 2008 which you haven't uploaded yet: I'd be more than delighted.
If not, I still want to thank you for writing this truly amazing story! It's been a great pleasure reading it!
