Hmm, I'm a vindictive b****sometimes and can be very apathetic to other people, so I don't quite understand and love this chapter as much as the previous ones. (even if I wasn't feeling vindictive, I would have let him stew for at least a day or two) However I respect where you're going with this and your characterization.
