e.c chapter 1 . 9/29/2001 Great word pictures. I felt as though I had been transported to Boston. Good Job! |
Breezy chapter 1 . 9/9/2001 As a Massachusetts native who is known to spend most Sundays on the common and bopping around seeing the sites I would say that this story painted a very acurate picture of the city. I could picture every scene in my head as it unfolded. But (I hate this part when I have to focus on the constructive help.) I would actually lighten up just a little bit on the travelogue and let the plot poke through. There is a lot going on in this story and it's all wonderful. Try to let it all get it's chance to shine. :) |
Kim D chapter 1 . 8/10/2001 This was so descriptive; I felt like I was actually strolling along the streets of Boston! The sights ... the sounds ... the smells, all combined to paint a vivid picture of this historic city. The little bits of history added a lovely background to the tour. Where will you take us next? |
barnstormer chapter 1 . 7/20/2001 My favorite fanfics are the ones which either teach me something I didn't know, or allow me to visit a place I have never been. Thanks for sharing. |
TheRev chapter 1 . 7/10/2001 As a 14-year transplant to Boston, I could visualize every place you mentioned in the story. Great advertising for America's Biggest Small Town :-) I like the story, although in a way the tourism overshadowed the plot. The plot would make a great story by itself, if you're thinking of writing more. Please do! |
Jenifer chapter 1 . 7/10/2001 I loved your story. I live just south of Boston. Have been here only 18 months and realize there is so much more I need to see and do there. It was nice to see L&A out of dc and enjoying themselves and the history lesson was nice too. Thanks. Jenifer |
Molly chapter 1 . 7/5/2001 Thanks for an enjoyable read. I'm very nostalgic for Boston after living there 13 years and moving in 1999. The descriptions and atmosphere felt right, and the characterization was on for that period in the show. I agree with Eman's comment on more "showing" vs. "telling," but you did a good job. I look forward to more. |
Elise chapter 1 . 7/5/2001 What a nice salute to the 4th. I wish I was in Boston! (With or without Lee) You gave great descriptions without getting bogged down. Lots of interesing history, which is my fave thing to do on vacation. And I loved the Motif # 2 story. Thanks for an enjoyable read. |
Merel chapter 1 . 7/5/2001 Very nice. I've only been to Boston twice, so I enjoyed the background and history, although I agree with eman in that I think you could have "shown" us more of that, rather than "telling" it. I liked the ending (even liked the plot )... the step forward in their relationship. It came across as very in-character for me. |
Jean chapter 1 . 7/5/2001 This was so good! I am glad you have continued to write. I will look forward to your next story. Please don't make me wait too long. |
EmilyAnn1 chapter 1 . 7/5/2001 This was nice - I enjoyed the increase in dialogue from your previous story as well as the return to Boston. (My mom's wedding dress came from Filene's). I did have a minor formatting issue - the spaces after the leading quotes threw me a bit. I'd still like to see a little bit more 'showing' and less 'telling', but this was very charming - you characterization of Amanda especially, was well within the show and quite human as well. |
